[livejournal.com profile] rogueslayer452 asked: In your opinion, which show (past or present) do you think was completely overhyped by the media (note: not horrible, but just overexposed)? What show do you think was completely overlooked?
The Walking Dead.

Happy Endings. This show cracked me UP almost every time, was far too clever for it's own good. It could have been so much more but the network didn't really give it a chance. I think some of this was because it wasn't streaming on Hulu or there was an odd delay or something. I remember trying to watch it on the network app while getting lunch before a meeting and just having an awful time streaming it.

[livejournal.com profile] dontjudgeme asked: You've been tasked with creating a fandom-related theme park. You get to choose the fandom, the location of the park, and the first 2 attractions. What are they?
I want to say Star Wars but Disney is already got that covered for me. I'm not sure a Buffy theme park would work LOL, it's kinda like Hunger Games, we'll all end up dead at the end!

OH How about a Doctor Who theme park? It could be fun and educational, travel to different time periods and explore, just like The Doctor and companion.

The main attraction would be a ride in the TARDIS! Marvel at how it is bigger on the inside! Feel it get wibbly-wobbley as you trave through space and time!

The second attraction...hm...I feel like this would be a good daring escape. Escape from Pompeii!...no wait, I think that is an actual ride at Busch Gardens...how about escape from the weeping angels? It will be a ride on rails that takes you through the underground lair where the angel Bob and his group are awaiting you. Don't BLINK! (seriously, don't, the cart will inch closer any time you blink)

[livejournal.com profile] night_owl_9 asked: What subjects were your favorite in school? Your least favorite?
Wow, you know what, I don't really remember? I enjoyed most of my classes in school. I know the class I had the worst time in was Geometry in 10th grade. That just did not click with me at all. And the last semester of Chemistry was rough. Otherwise, I had a good time. My very favorite semester was when my English and History/Social Studies classes actually lined up and were covering the same time period (yes, imagine that, reading Great Gatsby while studing the 1920s! And reading Grapes of Wrath while learning about the Great Depression, crazy!)

[livejournal.com profile] dontjudgeme asked: What are different ways that you categorize yourself? (i.e. sister, daughter, INFJ, star wars lover)
My profile on almost all of my social sites now reads "librarian. blogger. gamer. geek. girl." which probably sums me up the best.

I geek out about a lot of things, though Star Wars and Joss Whedon would probably be at the top. My facebook used to list my religion as Whedonist LOL (Whedon fans never had a cool nickname as far as I know...).

Oh, I like this quite from Mike Myers, which is "I am a site specific extrovert". I can be a total spaz but I choose my moments wisely. I'm definitely more extroverted than I was as a kid, but I think that just comes with being more comfortable in my own skin.

I LOVE Happy Endings! (the show, ahem)

I don't even watch Dr. Who but a Who-themed park sounds so awesome!

A Who-themed park would be so awesome!

Interestingly enough, it took me up until college to read "The Grapes of Wrath"; I had to read it for my history class (where we learned about American history up until the 21st century), and it just helped contextualize the strife that the Great Depression put people through.

That's wonderful and really must have helped bolster your understanding of the periods, I am sure. Great planning on the part of your teachers!

Oooh, the fandom themepark question is such a great one! I will have to ponder it for myself (i.e. steal it :D). And even as a non-Doctor Who-fan, your theme park idea sounds like a lot of fun!

Yay, I don't like The Walking Dead either!

I'm not sure about the Disney having Star Wars covered...when my mom and I had Disney passes, we would discuss how we would tweak Hollywood Studios and I always wanted Honey, I Shrunk the Kids or cafeteria next to the stage area to be turned into an Ewok village that you could actually explore and...Disney still has no plans for that. I'm not sure if there are any playground areas using Star Wars...which is a total wasted opportunity.

Walt Disney wanted to make a Doctor Who film in the '60s but there was no civilian internet and it was a pain to communicate with London when you're in California so he was like...fuck it...
Later, they tried to get a Doctor Who attraction for Tomorrowland but that fell through, too...can't remember why now...
I've never understood why you need three or four red phonebooths at EPCOT when you could simply turn one of them into the TARDIS.

For Geometry, I had a horrible teacher and barely passed. Everyone in her class was doing so horrible that by the end, she had to give us a bunch of extra credit and art assignments to get our grades up.

Well, if Disney wants to compete with Universal, this new Star Wars park is going to need to be pretty damn awesome. I just wish it wasn't going to take to long to build (though I probably should be happy, more time for me to save up money!)

My Geometry teacher was also the track coach and he would ALWAYS pester us to join track. That's all I remember.

Actually...it's NOT a new Star Wars park. The former Hollywood Studios...they still won't say what the new name is...will be about 40-45% Star Wars and 40-45% Pixar...but basically Toy Story which is disappointing because I really wanted an inverted roller coaster using Monsters, Inc.

I haven't been to Universal since 2004 so I haven't been able to see the new Harry Potter stuff...so jealous of everyone who does.

Ooooh I had not heard about the Pixar portion. Too bad they are only doing Toy Story, there is so much more to Pixar now...wonder if it has to do with the rights to the characters.

I went to Universal last February and loved it. Going back in June with Tim and his daughter because THEY NEED TO SEE IT. Disney has a lot to live up to if they want to complete with Harry Potter world. I like Disney but last time I went it felt so young and I feel like they are losing a huge demographic by not having rides that work with their non-princess themed movies. I haven't been back since the recent remodel though with the newer movies...but Disney is way more expensive than Universal too.

The Doctor Who related theme park sounds really rather awesome - I'd go to that! Obviously, there would have to be some terrifying Dalek related ride ... not sure how that would work but I'm sure we can make it work! ;)

I'm the opposite, since geometry (and trigonometry) were the only math subjects that somehow made sense to me, and I actually passed the class I was in, as opposed to algebra which I hated with a passion. History was boring to me, and while I did fairly well in English that was only during my last few years in high school when the teacher actually gave a damn.

My school put all the 11th graders in a class called American Studies which did history and English together as one class so we could all be studying the time periods we were reading about. My teachers didn't quite get it together, unfortunately, though, so we were perpetually behind in English. I think because my history teacher was an African American Studies major in college and didn't really care about anything between reconstruction and MLK.

Being comfortable in your own skin and finally starting to love yourself will definitely make you more extroverted. :-) Same thing with me, and I was quite extroverted to start with! The insanity...

My favorite classes was swedish (swedish literature and literature history mostly) and history. And I SUCKED at math! Seriously, seriously sucked... Still do. :-P

A Doctor Who Theme park would be amazing! Yes, to escape from the weeping angels.

I'm not sure what I think about a park ride based on a mass tragedy, though. I guess it's educational, but still a bit hmmm.

That does sound perfect to have history and literature class line up. Why don't we do that anyway? Like the people wanting to put math and science back together in the class room.

Universal Studios used to have a ride that was based on the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and it TERRIFIED me. They have since redone it as the "Disaster" ride which is now a tongue and cheek spoof of disaster movies.
