Thanksgiving is right around the corner so I'm trying to think POSITIVE for a bit because it is far too easy to slide dooooown with everything swirling around right now.

So, fun stuff! I'm hosting Thanksgiving again this year! Hopefully I will NOT melt my new oven thermometer (because this one is actually MADE to go in the oven!) but even if I do, I have two more back up ones because everyone got me one for Christmas last year after seeing my melted one on Instagram.

We were bad this weekend and bought ourselves an early Christmas present. We'd been eyeing up new TVs for awhile and they dropped down the pricing to "black friday prices" on Saturday and it was in stock so...we now have a Samsung 65" UHD smart tv. IT IS EPIC! I tested it out with Force Awakens and Rey was freakin' life size.

It is that time of year again - LORD OF THE RINGS REWATCH TIME! It is going to be BEAUTIFUL on the new TV and on blu-ray. I also ordered wire covers so I can attempt to set up the rear speakers. I love surround sound and I miss it and now that we pretty much have a movie theater downstairs, it needs to happen.

FYI - Sting has a daughter and she sounds JUST LIKE HER DAD. I'm listening to the full album now and I can't decide if it is weirding me out too much to enjoy it. I do like her sound though.

Oh, we watched Star Trek Beyond tonight. DVD from the library so not as pretty as it could be, but the Xbox tried its best to upscale it. (so spoiled). Anyway, that movie lost points with me for wasting Idris Elba. I mean, WTF, it was right up there with X-Men wasting Oscar Isaac. Two beautiful men that are amazing actors and you cover them in blue paint and have them just grunt for most of the film? Blah. The movie itself was alright, better than Into Darkness (but that movie made me fly into a nerd!rage). Good way to veg out on a cold Monday night.

Only working tomorrow and then we are off Wednesday and Thursday for the holiday. I'm off on Friday because I work Saturday. 3 days in a row. So awesome. Especially with the new Gilmore Girls appear on Netflix on Friday morning. I know what Sylvia and I will be doing while Tim is at work!

Middle nephew insisted on a Tolkien re-watch so we're doing all six and currently in the middle of The Two Towers...for LOTR I insist on the extended editions but I've actually never seen the extended Hobbit films.

I thought Star Trek Beyond was fun, definitely better than Into Darkness...which also wasted Noel Clarke.

Dammit, Toys'r'us had their Black Series figures half off earlier this week and I forgot to tell you, sorry.

I agree. I feel like it's so easy to slide into doom and gloom lately.

That'll be exciting. Hosting your own Thanksgiving dinner. Ohh that sounds so awesome about the tv. We have a smart tv in the living room and that's about it.

I only have work Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday. :) I'm going try to watch all of the Gilmore Girls starting Friday. We're allowed to wear jeans Tuesday & Wednesday. So yay! :)

I love that everyone got you an oven thermometer. They're looking out for you! I hope Thanksgiving goes well.

Totally agree that Star Trek Beyond wasted Idris Elba! He was such a boring villain, honestly...

J's desperate for a new TV. I don't think I can handle more than a 40 inch. 65 sounds insane, haha! But I'm sure Star Wars looks amazing on it!

I don't see anything wrong with an early Christmas present! I want a new tv so bad!

Also, I can't freaking wait for Gilmore Girls. I'm sad because we still don't have internet at home so have to go somewhere to watch it. In doing that we can't wait until the kids are asleep so with them being loud it wont be enjoyable.

Congrats on the new TV! It's sounds amazing. I adore my smart TV. LOTR is going to look and sound soo good, I'm excited for you.

Ooh, I didn't know Idris Elba was in Beyond. But ugh, the waste would bother me, too. I refuse to watch Into Darkness as I think Wrath of Khan is still one of the best movies ever made. But I've been curious about Beyond. Mostly because it looks like they're on a Star Wars planet.

Good luck with Thanksgiving! I hope you and your family have a good one :-)

I go into fits of nerd!rage when talking about 'Into Darkness' for any amount of time. JUST. MAKES. ME. SO. ANGRY!!!!!!!!!!!!

**ahem**

But "Beyond" is a lot of fun and doesn't attempt to re-do anything, though it stays very true to the Trek movie formula so fun to watch but no real surprises?

Ok yeah, I just checked out Sting's daughter and that voice really does seem to be coming from someone else. That's just weird. Btw another daughter of his is in Frances Ha (although tbh I thought her character kind of brought down the movie, like the whole thing is about the bond of friendship, or at least that's a big part of it, and I just wasn't feeling any bond between her and Frances).

Happy start of your Thanksgiving holiday!

...Samsung 65" UHD smart tv...

Mrow, I just googled them! Very, very nice!
---

...Sting has a daughter and she sounds JUST LIKE HER DAD..

OYFG! I know right???
The first time I heard her on the radio in a car I thought oh Sting sounds different(& did something to his voice). Then the radio host was like, "yeah this is Eliot Sumner, Sting's child"... and I'm like oh, his son...
Imagine my shock when I saw it was 'Coco'... unisex names, tsk! :D

Ooooh, 65" must look so prettyyy. I bet Lord of the Rings looks amazing on the pretty new TV!

Whoa. She does sound exactly like her dad, holy wow. It's pretty odd, but she does sound good!

It is such a lovely TV. HUGE. Everything is just more epic (or even more ridiculous, like Ash vs Evil Dead...so much fake blood LOL)

I tried to keep it simple this year so we did the traditional turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, cornbread, and rolls. My Mom provided the pies! YUM!

She did apple and pumpkin pie and then her experimental pie was cranberry, which was delicious! I think it had minced cranberries and maybe walnuts. Cut the tartness and was perfect with some vanilla ice cream on top.

...now I am sad I ate the last piece last night!

Yay for new awesome tv. :)

lol. I'm not on a LOTR rewatch, but I've started a Hobbit rewatch. Mom got me the lovely extended editions for my January bday, and I've only rewatched the first one since. Time to fix it.

My thoughts on Star Trek Beyond were: better than Into Darkness, not as good as the first.
