ARE ANY OF YOU WATCHING 'RIVERDALE'??????

Two episodes in and I am SO HOOKED!

Yes, I scoffed, I was skeptical, but this feels like the spiritual successor to Veronica Mars with its self-aware pop culture references and no-teen-talks-like-that banter.

And, best news, CW finally updated their app so you can stream the shows, no subscription needed and it looks like they don't expire either so go watch 'em so we can talk.

Because OMG THE END OF THE SECOND EPISODE! There are so many plot lines the show could have dragged out for a full season but it's like "NOPE, going to end that NOW and go HERE! HA!" and I'm like "OH WTF, I thought that was going to be the mid-season twist or the cliffhanger something". It really keeps you guessing.

Yes, I expect to ramble more about this so it is getting its own tag. IT IS THAT GOOD!

Please tell me someone here is watching?!?!

I'm watching! I love it, and I am also completely hooked. I absolutely adore Betty and Veronica's relationship, and I am so curious about what went down between Archie and Jughead. Plus, everything else. And Luke Perry! I adore the show.

Yeah, they are really having a lot of fun with what we know/think we know about Riverdale and the characters. I really like Betty and Veronica's relationship too!

I plan to watch soon! It was coming out as we were pulling up stakes - but I loved the comics and everything I've read told me I'd love the twist. So I'm soooo looking forward to seeing Archie and the Gang (and Riverdale!) in a whole new light. Just hope they keep some old jokes in there for us old-timer-fans, lol!

I think there are some little winks and nods to the original comics in there, though I could probably count on one hand how many Archie comics I have ever read. And BONUS CW seems to have made their app for streaming shows free now and someone told me they don't remove episodes after a few weeks like they used to, which I hope is true because I always eventually fall behind on shows :\

I wasn't but am now planning to. I didn't make the Archie comics connection at all even though I thought Riverdale sounded familiar...

I totally mocked it when it was announced but then there were rumblings from reviewers that it was kinda good so I gave it a try and I'm hooked.

I don't mind that Archie is that old. I mind that he's always so pale and broody that I always assume he's a vampire before remembering that it's Archie from the comics. I'm having fun with it but I hate Archie, Ms. Grundy and Jughead is the best part although they erased his sexual orientation. :(

I like Josie and the Pussycats although I'm still getting used to the sound...I always read the comics like they sound like Jem or the Pussycats movie.

The show first came on my radar from an LJ post lamenting the changes to Jughead's orientation (or lack there of). Though I don't know when that comes up in the show because I don't feel like he's made any overt sexual comments that make me feel like he is straight/gay. He's just broody. But, yeah, I wasn't interested in the show at all when I first heard about it but then reviewers were saying "wow, it doesn't suck" and I thought "well, let me give it a peek" and I'm loving it.

Though I'm not sure how redheaded pale Archie maintains his paleness after working outside all summer and then playing football...though all the redheads in the show are very pale. The color palette is very comic book, but it's like someone dropped an Archie comic in a puddle - the once colors stand out but they are muted?

I'm already hoping there can be a Josie spin off because I loved them from the first second on screen. I was a big fan of the movie because it was so ridiculously fun though now it is SO DATED. Still...I may or may not own the soundtrack LOL

I only watched the pilot and it didn't work for me. Also, I'm annoyed with the asexuality erasure, among other things.

I've never been a big Archie aficionado so I didn't know anything about Jughead's sexuality (or lack there of) until you posted about it on here in reference to the show (actually, that put the show on my radar too because I hadn't heard of it at all either LOL). Though I don't really feel like he's done anything overtly sexual in these first two episodes. UGH I hope they don't plan to hook him up with Betty or Veronica in some kind of love triangle thing. I'd prefer he remained unattached but it is CW. :\

I'm wondering how the show is actually doing. I brought it up with Tim's daughter, who is 14 so I assume in the target demographic for the show and she had no idea what I was talking about.

The ratings were actually pretty bad, even by CW standards, but I don't think they'll cancel it because they already have plans for a (dark) Sabrina spin-off.

I know a lot of people speculate about Jughead being asexual but I never considered it (but I also know this is because I wanted him and Betty to end up together lol)

It's not just speculation any more, it's on-page canon since a couple of years ago.

And since there's no ace representation on TV as far as I know, it's especially frustrating that TPTB decided they weren't interested even though the actor tried to convince them.

I did not think I was going to like it, I was ranting about how I wanted to see the word "gritty" and "reboot" removed from the TV show dictionary. But then I decided to watch the first episode and I was hooked. I mean, did it need to be Archie characters? Not really, but the writing is so good I don't really mind if that was the pitch they had to use to get their show greenlit LOL

I love the colors in the show. It looks like an Archie comic that got drenched in a downpour. :)

But, yeah, i don't think I've ever seen a 15 year old that ripped. When he took his shirt off in the first episode I was like "WHAT?! Not even CLOSE to 15 years old". But it's all part of the fun.

Teens on Teen shows are always in their late 20es/early 30es nowadays xD Think about Glee LOL! But it's forgivable!!! Btw Luke Perry as the father? <3 Tell me that the mother is Jennie Garth XD (with red hair).

Yes, at 15 you don't even have facial hair yet, I can't imagine being so ripped after a summer spent working... XD

I'm really enjoying the show... The CW is doing a good job... :D

Yeah, it is a major plot point. It's not treated as healthy or normal or anything though so it's not like they are condoning it. But, yeah, if that gives you the ickies you might want to skip it.

I AM SO TORN. On the one hand, I've been an Archie comic fan since I was a child (my mom used to reward me and my sister with good behavior when we were shopping by picking up a comic at the register when finishing up) and I used to read Riverdale FANFIC and ugh I don't know if I can handle it because I love the universe so much but I am SO CURIOUS especially because I've only heard good things about this show from people who were never really into the comics ahhhhhh.

I am watching as well~ I have always been a huge Archie fan so it's taking a while to get used to the more dark-emo tones with this city xD

I'm glad they kept in Kevin! He's a pretty new character, so I wasn't sure. Though, having Moose wanting to do naughty things with boys is so out of left-field. In the comics he was always so deeply in love with Midge. Unless he's bisexual? I'm not certain?

I'd love to see a Veronica/Betty situation. Cause Archie is a douche and does not appreciate those ladies. Going after a TEACHER. C'MON! CW trying to be all spicy.

So - I think Jason and Cheryl went on that boat to do a mutual suicide pact. Cheryl probably backed out last minute, they fought and the boat was turned over. Jason disappeared under water and she thought he drowned. However - when she talks to Veronica in the locker room saying "He was supposed to be back by now" makes me wonder if it was all an attempt to get attention from parents/school friends? Hm.

I don't think she shot him at all. Unless she was secretly in love with him and pissed that he was all crazy for Polly - though...Betty says Jason treated Polly like crap.

I DUNNO.

*raises hand*

I love parts of it, but since I have grown up on the comics, there are parts that make me go "WHAT?! THAT'S SO OOC!"

But it's growing on me. Second episode was so much better.

I think it's also on Netflix.
