I'm a tad bit distracted
Apr. 9th, 2018 11:26 pmI am not excelling at being an LJ/DW friend this month. I blame Monster Hunter World, Super Mario Odyssey and the FX Network, for having consumed all my free time.
Monster Hunter World is doing a seasonal event right now so lots of people are online and I have been having fun randomly joining quests. Kind of hilarious since I am only level 9 and I was joining quests with people that were over 100 LOL. I think they need to work on some kind of balance system so that doesn't happen. At least twice I joined a quest and by the time I found the group, they had finished the battle. I feel like MHW has all the fun of an MMORPG but you don't to worry about bullies, it's all about working together. I mean, I guess people can be jerks, but it takes a LOT of work so I think most just play.
The only downside to Monster Hunter World and the online gameplay is that you can't quit or pause because you are potentially playing with other people at any given time so you tend to commit to at least an hour of game when you start up.
I also bought myself Super Mario Odyssey with some birthday money/coupons I had so I've been playing that like crazy. And since it is the Switch, I can take it with me on the go, so I have had it at work to play on my lunch breaks when my friend Zac forgets to bring his Mario Kart game. Plus, it is Mario so it is adorable and fun and even the "hard" battles are not that stressful so it is a nice break from Monster Hunter.
And while most of my network shows are wrapping up, The Americans and Legion are back on FX and those are also hour long commitments. And this week Expanse will be back on SyFy!!! So all of my hour long dramas are back.
OH I should also blame The Vietnam War, which we are STILL getting through. The DVDs are due back Friday and I am DETERMINED to finish the series but every episodes is almost 2 hours long. We have been breaking in the middle and watching them over two days but yeesh. I'm learning so much but also SO MANY **FACEPALMS**. What was that saying about history and those doomed to repeat it? Because, yeah, we don't teach any of this in school.
This week is Tim's birthday too! We both took the night off on Wednesday (we usually work 1-9) so I'm going to take him out to dinner at ZinnBurger, which is a delicious burger place in the mall. They also have shakes. And pie. It will be a rough night. I already gave him his present - I'm paying for him to take bass lessons. I told him about it this weekend because I needed him to pick which bass teacher he wanted from the ones I had found. I feel like buying him experiences is better than stuff at this point, he's not a collector like I am (which is probably good because there isn't room enough for the both of us).
So, I am sorry for not replying to all your posts, I've been skimming them when I can. I have a bunch saved in my email that I intend to reply to so don't be surprised if a really old post gets a comment this week or next week.
