late to the party: Killjoys
Aug. 10th, 2018 11:57 pmI wonder how much longer summer time will mean no new shows from network television? With DVR and streaming TV, it's very easy to catch up so these breaks don't need to exist, at least for the viewers benefit.
BUT having this lull in new episodes of our favorite shows did lead us to finding Killjoys last week. It is another SyFy channel show but SyFy kept the streaming rights so we can actually watch the episodes from their app.
It is set in a distant future, dystopian society where "The Company" runs the planet and a group of bounty hunters called "Killjoys" act as a third-party law enforcement group. Our heroes are Dutch, a super sexy badass with a mysterious past and her partner Johnny, played by Shawn Ashmore, who handles the tech side of things. And their not-quite-sentient ship, Lucy. It took me a few episodes to get into it, it started out with a kind of "heist of the week" setup, but as the season went on, the characters got a bit more depth and backstory so that you get attached and want to find out more.
We have one episode left in the first season (the 9th episode was like whoa) and I'm enjoying it so far. The writers have already made some choices that surprised me. It's a fun way to spend 45 minutes and I can tell that there is a lot more to the world than we have seen so far.
Is anyone else a fan of this show? I see that the 4th season just started so I guess we have plenty to catch up on!
