-- I was almost one of *those* Star Wars fans the other day. Coworker innocently introduced me to one of his friends (well, someone he goes to church with) who was in the library and mentioned he was a Star Wars fan and said he should talk to me because I was too. Aaand he revealed himself to be one of the anti-Last Jedi people, which is fine, but I didn't agree with him and I said something about how the reasons he cited for not liking it (deconstructing Star Wars in Star Wars) was what I actually really liked about it and he made some comment about "his childhood" and luckily we were interrupted.
Anyway, because I'm a horrible person and his library card was still up on the screen, I checked his birthdate and saw 1992 and for a brief moment I was like "WTF that's not YOUR childhood! You weren't even BORN YET!" then stopped myself because someone did the same thing to me when I tried to join an online Star Wars group many years ago and I told them my early 80s birthday and they were like "nope, only fans that lived through it" and it really hurt to have my fandom "ranked" by my age.
But still...probably best he left the library before I started asking him deeper questions about the series LOL.
-- I really feel like I should delete Twitter. I'm angry about all this Info Wars/Alex Jones bullshit and I deleted FB when they pissed me off. I migrated my homebase for blogging to here after the Russians bought LJ (though that was more a "I want to get my credit card info off of that site right now" move), though I still cross-post. And what do I really get out of Twitter? Nothing much, except things to be angry about. And Expanse updates. I dunno...I want to pretend I have morals...but that means I should probably stop giving Amazon money and no have eaten Jimmy Johns on Monday. :\
-- Another branch manager position just opened up so I am going to apply again. It is actually at the library I *started* at when I first went full time. How weird would that be? None of that original staff is there anymore, except for the custodian. But it would be trippy to be in charge there after being the newest there so long ago. I'm already nervous about it all but interviews won't be until October so I have plenty of time to go over my notes and prep again. Going to meet with the current manager there and then her supervisor to talk about the position and be super extra double ready for the interview.
-- I get the book covers that our materials department decides not to use (if the cover printed on the book is the same as the dust jacket, they just ditch the dust jacket). Usually I use them for decorations around the branch or crafts, but these two came in last week and I took them home for myself. I put them into little frames over the weekend.

Bonus, there is a BUFFY book coming out later this year. I might have to buy that just for myself.
Alright going to read more 'Revival'. I swear, every time I think this series can't get stranger, I read the next book and go "welp, that is not where I thought it was going!"

Date: 2018-09-06 09:27 pm (UTC)My own use of Twitter is pretty limited (I don't post but read every few days, given I only follow a few people). I've found that at least one person's posts get reblogged on Tumblr anyway so there's really only one person whose posts I'd miss. I have to admit I've never seen Twitter as a fandom space as opposed to a space where fans are because that's where celebrities and showrunners have accounts. At least on LJ there were a number of authors who had accounts there back in its heyday but it was still a place largely for fans alone -- particularly given all the locked posts, accounts, and communities.
