**Finally** watched the last episode of "Haunting of Hill House" on Netflix. I loved it. It was my kind of spooky story. Just spooky enough to give me the heebie-jeebies but compelling enough to make me want to keep watching.
Luke was my favorite, though I have a little bit of a crush on the actor who played Steve, but that's a carryover from when he was on Game of Thrones LOL. And, of course, if they gave Theo her own show, I would watch that forever.
I would love if they American Horror Story'd this cast/crew and made another season of a spooky show, just *not* a sequel season.
SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT
I was pretty proud of myself for slowly catching on to what the finale twist would be by the second to last episode. Mostly because I laughed at the fact that no one knew where anyone's special rooms were...and then it clicked that it was because the "Red Room" was actually a "Room of Requirement". Clearly this house was abandoned by Slytherins in the past, or perhaps set up as a trap for Muggles by Voldemort.
The kids were AMAZING when it came to acting and making me believe them. LITTLE LUKE WITH HIS GLASSES! OMG the way he had to look *up* all the time to see through those lenses. I mean, why would you buy his glasses like that? Doesn't matter, just adorable.
Sylvia made a comment to me that she thought Liv was always crazy, but I disagree and felt that, while she was sensitive to the paranormal and nature, the House's aura caused her have more intense migraines and strange dreams and then Poppy began to haunt her and plant messages in her head. That was why the children said she wasn't their Mom by the end. I am going to interpret that by the end, after Hugh talked to her, she slipped back into herself and let go of the delusions that Poppy gave to her.
From a story standpoint, what do you think was the point of holding off on showing us Shirley's big "secret" until the finale? I mean, I knew right away that was her untold shame because a dude with a drink smirking at you from a distance = affair/one-night-stand to me LOL. I guess it was because up until that point, she had not confronted any of it?
Someone on the TV Time app pointed out that the most tragic story was poor Abigail's and I have to agree! Poor girl was sheltered forever and the one night she goes out to have fun she ends up dead? And it was just heartbreaking that the Dudley's stayed with the house so long so they could be a whole family again.
So, was the house evil? Or just kind of like a center of a mystical convergence that drew/trapped spirits? Because there was no story of them all being killed tragically. Obviously, Liv and Nell died horribly, but the clock fixer?
I want to be the ghost with the cane and the bowler for Halloween LOL. Honestly, he just wanted his hat back!
I really thought they might play it all up that perhaps everyone was hallucinating because of the mold, but I'm glad they decided to just go full-ghost for us.
I would never have guessed that it was going to end on such a happy note. I mean, it was melancholy for sure, but you felt like this family was finally going to pull itself together.
And don't you dare tell me they are still in that room! I've seen the theories! NO THEY ARE ALL FINE NOW! THANK YOU!
