LJ/DW are dead they say...then why did it just take me 2 hours to catch up on ya'll's posts??????

Clearly those people are not following the right people, knowwhatI'msaying?

Geeky activity for the week: Trying to pin point what date it is (in the show's universe) when the Holiday/Christmas themed episodes happen.

For example, I know that the Community episode from season 1 ("Comparative Religion") happen on December 10th as it is a running gag in the show. So I'm going to watch this episode on December 10.

Turns out, this is NOT an easy task! I'm finding a lot of the episodes take place on Christmas Eve but the rest are kind of nebulous. Like, Bob's Burgers - obviously if the restaurant is open, it is probably not Christmas Eve or Christmas Day at the start of the show...so what day is it? Should I just go by air date? This is also problematic since a lot of shows aired on the same few days at the start of December!

I suppose I could watch 30 Rock "Ludachristmas" episode on December 7th as Liz's brother's memory is stuck in Dec 7 1985. And I know the "Christmas Special" episode takes place on Christmas Eve as that is the whole point, Jack is avoiding going home to his mother.

I've decided I'm going to do the Fraggle Rock episode on the first day of Winter since the Fraggles are clearly celebrating the changing of the seasons and the shortest day of the year. So that will be December 21.

Usually I try to cram all the episodes in the week of Christmas but I find that I have acquired TOO MANY holiday shows so now I need to space them out a bit. Also, I'm trying to revive my Wordpress blog so I was thinking this would be a cool series of posts to get my back into practice.

YOUR TURN: What are your favorite tv show holiday/christmas/winter episodes? Do you watch them every year?

My favorite specials are A Charlie Brown Christmas, the original Chuck Jones How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer. We usually watch those while decorating the tree, but we probably won't be getting a tree this year, because we're going to be out of town for Christmas.

(I'm also partial to the original A Miracle on 34th Street, It's A Wonderful Life, and A Christmas Story. My wife is a big fan of Elf and The Santa Clause, but tbh I find those pretty cringy.)

Yes, activity definitely has a lot to do with what you're following!

That's a fun idea. And no, I haven't watched Christmas specials since I was a kid. I have enjoyed Halloween episodes or movies, and we've sometimes rewatched Buffy's "Pangs" on Thanskgiving (not nearly as many episodes for that holiday). Mike always watches Grinch and he likes the Great Pumpkin for Halloween and the Charlie Brown Christmas one. He has the various DVDs for things like Rudolph and Mrs. Santa and so on but we don't spend Christmas together so I have no particular rituals for the day itself.

I'm not sure if I ever had a favorite special -- I remember as a kid that I found Little Drummer Boy really sad and I liked the songs for Heat Miser and Snow Miser. On the whole though I remember I much preferred stop animation stories to cartoons.

I used to love all the Christmas specials but now it feels like I'm always working whenever anything is on...or it doesn't appear to be showing anywhere like Mickey's Christmas Carol.

Tell me where these people are! I don't know if I need to just start randomly approaching people in the comments of mutual friends' posts or what, but my circle/flist just seems to be shrinking.
