twissie for this! She did ADIML post last week and encouraged me to give it a try. If you all fall asleep while reading, I'm sorry!
This is my first time doing something like this so, here we go!
Thursdays are weird days, because Tim works 9-5 and I work 1-9. His first alarm goes off at 7:15am. I poked my phone and saw the good news that someone sent me money on eBay for those old Game of Thrones blu-rays I was trying to unload! Huzzah! And while it would be easy to just roll back over and go to sleep, I can't because...
LOL this is what happens when you try to take a picture while you're half away. I can't go back to sleep because Apollo knows that the alarm means food and starts meowing pretty much non-stop after he hears it. I sleepwalk downstairs and give him and his sister some wet food then come back upstairs and fall back into bed.
Between meowing cats, Tim's "snooze button" addiction and then him finally getting up to take a shower, I don't fall back to sleep until 8am. I'm a night person. If I am left to my own devices, I usually sleep until 10am, that is when I naturally wake up. So I love my Thursday mornings.
I have lots of options on my phone for alarms depending on how motivated I feel. I was not feeling very motivated this morning so I just left it set for 10:30. But then I popped right up and went out to the kitchen to make myself some breakfast.
I love this electric kettle. I've had it for YEARS now and it is just the best thing. I even convinced them to buy one at work LOL.
I chat with Alexa while waiting for the water to boil. I wanted to know about the Amazon Prime Beta thing that kept popping up in my Instagram. She gave me a special "access code" and when I said it she didn't really give me that much more information. It was amusing though. And then my water was ready so breakfast time!
Apollo found the one little sliver of sunlight in the kitchen, which of course is right in front of the fridge so he was staring at me as I approached to get the milk. I made a noise so he would look at me for the photo. Starbuck did not get the memo.
OH the other thing I said to Alexa is to turn on the Xbox and start up YouTube. I love that she can do that now because it does take the Xbox a little while to get ready, so I ask her to do it when I'm upstairs and by the time I bring down all my food, it's ready to go! Since I slept in, I opt for some OutsideXbox gaming videos since those are easy to walk away from rather than settling into a 40 minutes show. Plus, these guys make me smile and it's good to start the day laughing.
I have a lot of fun socks but no one ever sees them because my pants are long or my boots are high. Whatever. Now you know what awesome socks I was wearing on Thursday!
It's cold out so I tried to layer because who the heck knows what the temperature will be *inside* the library. Scarves are my friend.
Change of pace for driving because I got home later than Tim on Wednesday so he got to take the Subaru this morning - lucky for him, heated seats! So I was slumming it in the Civic. It's a good little car but I didn't know where the aux cable went so I had to listen to radio. Blah. I put on NPR but they were talking about the Super Bowl. Ah well, at least it was intelligent conversation because NPR LOL.
So, the most recent work drama revolved around birthday cakes. LOL yes this is how low-stress my coworkers are, the biggest debate at our last meeting was how to have LESS cake. People were like "I have gained so much weight here!". So we have opted to have quarterly staff appreciation meals instead. Birthdays will still be acknowledged but no more mandatory cake and ice cream. Today is our winter staff meal and we used some special monies to buy Jimmy Johns for everyone. My manager called out sick though so it was my job to pick them up. OMG THEY SMELLED SO GOOD!
My desk. I actually spent the first two hours on the public service desk but I didn't really want to take pictures with so many people hanging around. Then from 3-4 I was at my desk working on random emails and what not. As you can see, I surround myself with things that amuse me.
LUNCH! or DINNER! Something. My break is at 4pm but I will eat dinner when I get home so I never know what to call this meal. But this is a special occasion meal too. We had the half subs, my boss made chili (she was sick but drove in to drop it off because she is too nice and spoils us), chips, and salad (not pictured but I swear I had some!) so we can pretend to be healthy.
AND CAAAAAAAAAKE!!!!!!! (and I didn't even notice that Cake was facing me on my mug until after I took this photo. My coworker hates this mug, she says the Adventure Time artwork creeps her out LOL).
Finished reading this at lunch. I have conflicted feelings. Will post about the book later but I always have a book at lunch. We started chatting though so I didn't get to read any of the new Paper Girls.
Sylvia started texting me after break, asking me for book suggestions for her step-brother who is in first grade. She has been working with him after school, helping him read. She wanted me to bring stuff home for her this weekend. We got into a big conversation about the bullshit that is "reading levels" because every book has some arbitrary "level" on it. I told her that they didn't mean anything and she said "Oh, I get it. Reading Levels are like Women's Clothing sizes" and I was like YES OMG YES THIS! And then I ran around the library telling the rest of the librarians this.
I do a lot of little odd jobs in the back, have an extended conversation with my friend Zac about video games while we are on the desk. The library is pretty quiet. School was out today because it was the end of the semester and it is also really freakin' cold so everyone is home and warm. I also did my 20 minutes on Duolingo which I consider work since I have two Spanish programs I am now hosting each month.

Kids area is all tidied up. We have SO MANY toys now because of our Foundation and what not, so during the day it is very busy. But the Pages do a great job cleaning up before we close now so it looks like nothing happened.
9:00pm! LOCK THE DOORS! I always joke that if I don't see the Big Boss sprinting up the sidewalk at 8:59, I'm going to lock the doors because we are all so done by Thursday night.
Bundled up and in the car again. I think it said the temperature was 18F when I started the car. Since I was the person-in-charge, I wait in the lot until all of our staff have managed to get their vehicles started and moving.
As SOON as I get home and upstairs, Apollo immediately starts asking for food. LET ME GET MY PJ PANTS ON!
Most nights, I do the cooking, but on Thursdays I usually ask Tim to make something. His specialty is a casserole that has meat (ground turkey tonight), green beans, corn, pasta, and cream of mushroom soup all mixed together. Helped to warm up the house too! And he had it ready pretty much right when I got home. <3
We just started watching The Orville which has to be the worst advertised show ever, I want to find the guy at FOX who put together the campaign and smack him because the show he put in the ads looked stupid and this show is great.
OM NOM NOM NOM!!!!!!
I can never tell if this heater isn't that great or if these two bums just soak up all the warmth.
After dinner, we usually have a warm drink of some kind. Since we are out of cookies, we opt for this faux Chai mix which probably has as much sugar as the cookies we would have eaten. Tim's Mom gave it to us when we went to Wisconsin the first time so it's getting old...still tastes good though.
Back to YouTube! Tim and I find Conan O'Brien to be hilarious and he is pretty generous with the amount of clips he puts on YouTube for his new show so we watch a few videos and drink our Chai.
It's after 11pm when we finish our drinks and head upstairs. I have worn out my phone so I snap this last photo, my final ritual of the night - turning on the foot heater and plugging in my phone to charge them reading for a bit before turning out the lights.

It's good that you guys could debate about the cake issue and come to a good solution for you guys.
