one fandom to rule them all
Apr. 25th, 2019 11:55 pmI'm the only person in the world who is not interested in Avengers:Endgame, but I'm happy for all of you.
I just hope you're ready for all of my fangirling and squealing when December comes around and Rise of Skywalker comes out. I understand your feelings, MCU fans, and I will have similar feelings once RoS premieres.
I had 14 people come to my photo program! For an adult program on a gorgeous spring day, I'm counting that as a success!
I'm low-key freaking out right now because TWO branch managers (one of them being MY manager) have announced their retirements on June 30th. Which means there will be TWO openings I can apply for. I feel good about it, I just have to not flub the interview like I did last time (though I don't think that was meant to be, so maybe it was the universe holding me back). No idea when the interviews will be, kinda hoping they will happen sooner rather than later, mostly because I don't want my poor branch to be floating without a manager for the whole summer.
I'll be high-key freaking out once a date is announced. Good news is that my resume is pretty much ready to go! Just need to tweak the cover letter and then review my notes like crazy.

Date: 2019-04-26 11:51 am (UTC)Good luck with the branch manager position! Out of curiosity, do you have MLIS? A local university JUST started offering one, so I might be able to pursue that path without doing an online course finally. Still not sure if it's worth it though.

Date: 2019-04-26 01:27 pm (UTC)If you want to move up and/or around in your library career, the MLIS is a good thing to have. While some public libraries are starting to not require it for supervising positions, it is still required for academic libraries or other kinds of libraries out there so if you are still wondering where this career will take you, it can be a good investment. Usually the courses give you a good grounding in the managing stuff side. I didn't think I would ever want to be a manager when I got my MLIS but now I'm happy I did get it because 10 years later it turns out, yeah, I do want to move up!

Date: 2019-04-26 08:54 pm (UTC)I looked at Drexel, but the biggest issue for me is (obviously) the expense. This other university is where my mom works, so I can get a significant discount, which is why I'm excited. ALA has them in "precandidacy" status, which means they aren't accredited yet, but they will be.
I'm still not sure, but I'm having them send me some information. Thanks!

Date: 2019-04-26 12:08 pm (UTC)Ha, that's where I am. All the hubbub is virtually meaningless to me personally, but I'm glad my friends are excited. For some reason I just can't get into superheroes. However, if it makes other people happy, all the more power to them.
I am so behind on Star Wars. I saw the first new one, but not the second. (2017 was... not a good year for me, and I didn't want to have to unpack whatever they decided to do with Carrie Fisher on top of still dealing with Things. Maybe I'll watch the second one - The Last Jedi, right? - this weekend.)
Good luck on that job!!

Date: 2019-04-26 01:29 pm (UTC)She is 100% in Last Jedi, she passed after that was done filming. Also, they have promised that they only used filmed footage for 'Rise of Skywalker' so no CGI Carrie there either, thank goodness. I really hate the trend of the CGI real people. Creeps me out. Just hire a damn actor that kind of looks like them, I can suspend my disbelief!!

Date: 2019-04-27 03:06 pm (UTC)YAY for possible advancement at the job! Good on you for being so organized, and wary as well. It's good to be wary before taking a plunge!
