This made me emotional, listening to them talk about how they stayed true to the original vision of Dark Crystal:

I'm really excited about this series. It looks beautiful.

YAAAASS! Not going to lie, I have been skeptical about this just because it felt like Netflix just wanted a Game of Thrones BUT this looks very pretty. And hopefully it has all the wit and snarkyness of the books and the games. The stories in both play with fairy tale tropes. Plus, lots of kick ass women. The showrunner pointed out that they were going to spend some of the first season on Yennefer's backstory and how she because the awesome witch she is in the books. I'm all about backstory.

Still waiting for the season 4 Expanse trailer. I think the panel is tomorrow so hopefully??? Probably while I'm at work LOL.

In other news, IT IS REALLY FREAKIN HOT HERE! Like, the "real feel" is 100 for the next two days. We are both working tomorrow so at least we can turn the a/c down at home and save some $$$ but still. Today was rough, we just hid int he basement to avoid running the air and Sunday will also probably be a hide in the basement day.

The Dark Crystal looks amazing. I'm glad that they're going back to basics (puppets! details!) because there is just something magical about things that look real but aren't. It would have been easy for someone to say "let's make the whole thing CGI."

And I have no experience or knowledge of Witcher at all, but that also looks interesting.

When they first announced the prequel, that was my fear and I wasn't going to watch it if it was all CGI.

I need to read The Witcher books, which the show is based on. I've played the games, which are also based on the books, but take place after the books end, so the show will be covering new ground for me.

It is kind of hilarious watching the self-righteous gamer fanboys complain about the show, only to have the fans of the books point out that they clearly haven't read the books because that isn't how it is in the books. Nerd fight.

I wanted Mike to go back to the office yesterday so he could have a cold space without turning our A/C down (I sit in front of a fan during the summer). Given he works at a college he told me his office was actually too cold and there was no one else there to ask how the thermostat could be adjusted. So I'm imagining these vast empty buildings sitting there churning out super cold air, running up bills and carbon emissions for no reason :(

I can believe it, public buildings are ridiculous. My new branch is in a strip mall and it has 4 AC units and they are hooked up in the weirdest way. For example, the unit that heats/cools the area right by the front door also heats/cools the staff breakroom in the back. So to keep the front area comfortable yesterday the back room was FREEZING. Why was this ever the design?!?!
