Solo Journaling Game - Anamnesis

Thoughts on my experience playing "Anamnesis" - a solo journaling game. This is really the first one I have played start to finish! I'm hoping to make time at least once a month to get these solo games to the table, I have QUITE the backlog!

Aw, thanks! Yeah, I had spread my self pretty thin with social media and what not and poor Dreamwidth fell by the wayside. I can't believe it had been over a year since I posted!

This game is awesome and there are SO many more out there. I just bought a whole bundle on itch.io of like 100 solo games - it's a fundraiser for suicide prevention too! $10!

This sounds like one step beyond Choose-Your-Own-Adventure type stories. Very cool! I've never heard of journaling as gaming before. But it makes sense as a collection of writing prompts!

Also: Good to see you! When did you get your own website?

Yes! It's definitely a blend of Choose Your Own Adventure and a role-playing game, where you have complete freedom to tell the story YOU want.

Also: Thanks! Sorry I sort of forgot about this site? Life, other socials etc, poor Dreamwidth just kind of fell away from my routine. I've had my own website for YEARS - like maybe 10? I'd have to go digging but I moved it all over to Wordpress about 6 years ago I think? Not that anyone besides me reads it haha.

Yeah, and especially helpful if you can't think of what to write. Which doesn't happen to me often, but if it ever does!

One of my writer friends here keeps telling me I should buy my own domain name as a website. I dunno though, I guess I'm fine with just keeping DW, at least for now. Plus WordPress is what we used at the library for awhile, so it would remind me too much of work. It does look really cool though!

Honestly, Wordpress is clunky AF and if I had not just renewed everything in December, I would probably move to something else LOL. But now I'm too lazy and making the best of it.

I literally JUST found out about solo journaling games (the concept itself) earlier today and now I see it here again, which I know is Baader–Meinhof phenomenon but it's still fun. :D And wow, I love this entire idea that you can invent SO much of the world yourself and the prompts don't box you into a specific setting, not even something like modern vs historical.

I would definitely suggest checking out the Solo But Not Alone 3 bundle on itch.io right now - it features all solo games and it's $10 and that money goes to supporting suicide prevention! I bought it and there are so many cool games - there is even one that a solo rpg about SAVING YOU LIVEJOURNAL HAHAHHAHA

Oh, that sounds like an amazing initiative! :D Considering imagining/coming up with fiction to write about is bordering on impossible for me most of the time, I'm not sure I could even play these games? They sound SO GOOD though! And I'm really intrigued by the livejournal game now? xD (I tried to find it but I couldn't.)

Sorry, I forgot the name when I was typing that reply - it's called "Un-Navigatable" and every time I read the description, I cackle. I really want to play it.

I think you could totally play the game because it gives you some great prompts to get you thinking! That's why love about them, they can guide you from start to middle to finish and you fill in the story as you think of it and it just organically comes together. It's like magic!
