do not mock the hot seat
Mar. 2nd, 2005 12:24 pmoh man, I worked 5-9 at West County last night. They told me it had been busy, but I scoffed. Then, just because I could, I sat in the proverbial "hot seat", the chair at the end of the desk that patrons usually make a b-line for once they come upstairs. MAN I was busy. In fact, the other librarians said it was slow, but really, it was because they all came to me first! haha. I respect the hot seat now. I shall never mock it again. In fact, when I go in today, I'm am SO sitting on the other side of the desk. If I can. (1-9 tonight)
The star wars book earned points for me last night as I felt it was inferring that Anakin is not actually this "chosen one" of prophecy. I still think it refers to Luke and that while Anakin is an important player, he's not the one who's going toShan-Shu bring order to the galaxy.
Eep, I need to get ready to go!

Date: 2005-03-03 01:44 am (UTC)I'm only on page 166 of Labyrinth... I'm hoping I can catch up on some reading tonight at work.
I've heard people talk about Anakin bringing balance by 'bringing forth' Luke. But, I'm wondering if they mean that Vader's action of tossing over the Emperor, himself, is what eventually brings balance. I've also wondered that after the Empire/Emperor gets abolished, does that really mean there is balance? Wouldn't it mean that the 'good guys' are in the lead at that point? (Labyrinth is the first EU book I've picked up, so I am fairly unknowledgeable in what happens after Jedi.)
Heh... I've been trying to 'turn' my sister over the the Buffyverse side. Though I adore Anakin, I keep teasing that Buffy is way stronger emotionally and as a hero since she never wavers from doing what is right or what is needed from her. :)

and since there are about a billion EU books that take place post-empire/RotJ, I'd have to say things are shaky for the New Republic. The only EU books that I read and enjoyed were the Timothy Zahn trilogy, which take place right after Endor. I haven't read them since they came out though.
Buffy is far stronger than Anakin, but at the same time, Anakin really doesn't have any friends. If Anakin had a scooby gang, would they have kept him from the dark side? Hm....

Ahahahaha!! You're actually probably right. I know Buffy often has to look to the Scoobies for support. But then again, Anakin does have Obi-Wan, regardless of how 'grumpy' he thinks his Master is. (Giles was often pretty grumpy, too.) :D
