So we saw "Hitchhiker's Guide" yesterday afternoon. I'm still organizing my thoughts on the whole thing. The fact is, I've had the book, radio show, and BBC mini-series engraved into my brain, so I have to come to terms with the fact that this is a new interpretation. So bits were left out, so what! The movie was fun. Not the greatest thing ever, everyone should still read the books or listen to the radio show. I'll do a real review when I'm at home and have the ability to save rough drafts hehe. Don't think the library would be too happy if I downloaded an LJ client onto their PC...

BONUS - we got to see the "Serenity" trailer on the big screen. There were a couple other browncoats in the theater, because I heard at least two squee like sounds from overhead. It looks so shiny on the big screen. So far, feedback from the Australian sneak preview has been good, but then again, most of the people who have seen it have been firefly fans, so they could just be fanboy/girling and not really examining it. But then again, sometimes fans are the harshest critics...*sigh* Sept 30th is so far away!

We went and saw the art show in Baltimore that featured my friend Joanne's photograph. I hadn't seen Joanne in....oooh, probably over a year. I'm a bad friend, I hate phones so if you don't have e-mail I lose touch. But anyway. She seemed quite happy, she was engaged to her boyfriend of 4? years, which was a bit of a surprise though not really. I was half expecting her to be married already, and I think she might have been if her mom didn't want to do the whole big wedding thing.

it's about to be time for my lunch break. You'll probably hear more from me in an hour

BACK! everything below this was all written post-lunch break.

Hayden is on the cover of GQ, but it's this months issue so I can't check it out. GQ smells funny. In other magazine news, I have to start collecting TV guide covers...well, I really want the Leia/Padme cover for my Leia/Padme collection ("you're probably all noticing that I said "Princess Lee-ya...not Leia...").

We have no food in the house whatsoever. My lunch today was one of those "soup at hand" thingies and a Dr Pepper. We need to go grocery shopping but I doubt I'll really want to after working 9-5...how do people get anything done with full time jobs? So much of your day is gone. Why do we work so much? Blah, anyhoo

The weather is miserable today, just rainy and gloomy. I need sunshine in the morning to get going, when it's like this I just don't move as fast. It's not even real rain, it's drizzle, a half-hearted attempt at rain.

Everytime I ask a patron if they need help finding something, they keep telling me they are looking for their significant other or child. I find this amusing.

I better stop now, this post is getting out of control!

Now... I liked it! =)
I think the stuff that they changed/added worked, and helped give it a little more of a plot since the book really is kinda random and not terribly long. The couple little things I was "eh" about didn't ruin it, and the casting was fabulous! (I loved Zaphod!) Of course, my brain goes completely off-kilter at the sound of Alan Rickman's voice anyway, so it has that going for it if nothing else. Also, the beginning/ending song was great. It's still stuck in my head.

Mathew was singing "so long and thanks for all the fish" when I went on lunch break. Alan as Marvin was perfect. Actually , Marvin was pretty much perfect, (though I did feel very upset when he...hm...maybe I'll save that for my spoiler post).

I enjoyed it but I'm not in love with it. I am in love with the Serenity trailer though :-)

I think I know what you're talking about. I was like "Wait, that can't happen yet!"
I do want the gun from the movie though. Our group had much discussion about that at TGIFriday's after the movie. When Joe asked Dave if I'd used one of those on him yet, he replied by lifting my boot up and saying that "No, she usually just applies this to my head until I understand her point." =P

yeah I did. It's a fun movie. I think on a scale of 5, I'd give it a high 3. like, a 3+ almost 4....yes...
