Well, after camping out for 24 hours, I came home triumphant with tickets to the 12:01am showing of RotS for may 19th at the historic Senator theatre in Baltimore. We had a wild and crazy time.

I got all ready to go to work on Friday morning, and when I got there, it turns out I wasn't even on the schedule. So I waiting to see if any other branches called just in case I marked it wrong in my book. By 10, no one had contacted me so I figured I was good to go, and I drove up to Baltimore. After taking the wrong directions (Yahoo took me through the ghetto, Mapquest sends me around it), I arrived at the Senator around noon and found Paul in line with about 10 other people. The sky was cloudy and everyone was concerned it might start raining, but the weather was kind. Paul was the only one without a tent set up, and he had spent the night in a sleeping bag, though from what I understand hardly any actual sleeping was done. Apparently, the Star Wars fans paid a visit to Captain Morgan and had a wild time. I'm so happy I missed that hahaha. Instead, we played Star Wars Stratego and chatted with our fellow line mates. There was Kenny, a spoiler-free guy hanging in his tent, who got most of Paul and mine's pop-culture references. Ryan, a Mint In Box collector younger than me, who was a spoiler-whore, flipping through is making of RotS book while we were in line. His girlfriend Jenna showed up later with lots of snacks. She wasn't really a star wars fan, but she was a Buffy fan, so I kept her amused with Buffy discussion and we watched "Smile Time" on paul's laptop. [livejournal.com profile] destertale showed up around 8pm I think. One of the peeps from the DCSWCC came by, she couldn't camp out for tickets, but she brought us hot cocoa which really warmed me up. [livejournal.com profile] dstntp1lgr1m also made an appearance, slipping me $8 to pick him up a ticket. And Thomas, from the DCSWCC also came, around 1am! But he stayed all night after that.

The coolest thing was, the owner of the theater showed up and decided that after the last show of the night let out, he was going to let us inside! And he did! From about 12:30am until 9am we all went inside. Some took it as a chance to get some real sleep. Others enjoyed free soda and popcorn and random stuff on the screen. They ran some music videos, R2 beneath the dome, and the fan film "Revelations", which was made by a local boy. They also pulled out their Star Wars props, so we had carbonite Han, Yoda, and a millenium falcon to check out. (of course, one stupid drunk fan had to touch the han solo, which caused it to fall over and 3 of the fingers shattered. Ugh. He could have caught it but instead he just let if fall. It was upsetting). The owner and his friend's dogs were in the theater too, sweetest things, they would bring their ball up to anyone, drop it and back away and wait for you to throw it. So well trained! haha. The owner also brought out some drums, so people we playing along to the music in the movies, and Paul brought along his digeridoo. We practically re-enacted Monty Python and the Holy Grail while waiting for the sun to come up. The owner ran across the street and got bagels, cream cheese and orange juice.

Just as I had hoped, it was a real experience. The poor man's C3 haha. I was exhaused when I got home, passed out for 7 hours. I'm still pretty tired but I don't want to go to bed until bedtime so I can get back on schedule.

But no post about waitin in line for 24 hours would be complete without pictures!!!!!
