orangerful: (star wars figures // spitefairy)
Well, Toy Fair 2007 has started and the images are on the internetz.

I gotta say, as far as the Basic Star Wars line goes, I'm not impressed. Either they are such random side characters that I don't care, or they are characters I already have a couple versions of (Luke up Luke down Luke Jedi!). And I love that they have made an "Animated Debut Boba Fett" figure that is not actually done in the animated style. Plus, since Lucas hasn't released the Holiday Special on DVD (thank god, let it die George, you're doing the right thing!) it just makes me laugh. That, or this is really a sign that he's finally going to give in. *shudder* (I'd rather he not give in though, aquiring and viewing the Holiday Special is a rite of passage for a star wars fan, and you only need to survive it that one time, then you're a full geek - and if you're sane you'll never want to watch it again!)

BUT! The Galactic Heroes line is as ADORABLE as EVER!! And some of my favorite characters are popping up. Leia as Bousch! Cantina Band members! and OMG SO CUTE Darth Maul with his little hoodie and bike! yay! ([livejournal.com profile] jimithingy just reminded me that I didn't get all of the last wave...might have to go see if Entertainment Earth is having any shipping specials...)

Unleashed Battle Packs are about 50/50 with me. I love troopers, can never have enough of them. The Jawa's are great but when did that happen in the movie? haha. And I'm always happy to see anything from the original trilogy. Now that the prequel buzz has worn off, I might stick with collecting OT characters...unless it's just too cool to pass up. There's nothing in these pics that has me swearing to check the Target racks every week, but there are some cool things that I'd like to get my hands on.

Can't wait to see what's coming from the Buffy line of figures! :D

Ooh yay, someone posted the Diamond Select Toys pics from Toy Fair which means BUFFY STUFF!

Rumors are flying that the Oz/Wood/Dru line has been cancelled, but they have the figures (and the constructed Judge) on display. Maybe they've changed their mind? Or maybe they are going to mix it up a bit and release them in a different wave. I think the Oz sculpts look really good.

Yet another wave of Willows is in the line-up, but at least they are new costumes! Finally, a Halloween Willow! (though her torso seems a bit long and skinny in the wrong parts, but oh well). Kendra also get a figure as does *barf* Kennedy.

And then there's this....which I'm not really sure what that's all about. Someone on [livejournal.com profile] whedonesque said that they are a new series, with less articulation in the figures but they come with extra body parts instead to create scenes. Not sure about it. These are clearly still in the basic stages. It could be really cool or sorta dumb. I'd prefer just to have different playsets with spots for my current figures but oh well. I heard the Library Playset didn't sell as well as they hoped so that probably put them off those.

Seems to be a statue line coming out too. Not really interested in these, they will probably be quite big and expensive. They sure do look cool though.

I'm still on the fence about Mr Gordo and Feigenbaum. The bunny is adorable though. I'm pretty sure that's now what Mr Gordo looked like for the 30 seconds he was on screen. But he is sorta mooshed into a box. *sigh* I should ask for a Time & Space Toys giftcard for my birthday so I can buy them all!!!
