I am pink but not empty handed!

Just got back from another fantastic Summer Social with the DCSWCC (that's D.C. and metro area Star Wars Collecting Club)! Beautiful day today, just the right temperature and a bit of a breeze. Everything went smoothly. I had a yummy burger and hot dog and got to chat with all my Star Wars buddies. jimithingy came with me so I got to show him off. :D I wore my "White and Nerdy" t-shirt, which was a big hit with everyone! AND managed to get some toys that I did not already have in the Sarlaac Swap and member raffle (my bag got an honorable mention!) -- I got the comic book set with Obi & a shock trooper and the one with Quinlan-Vos and some EU guy I did not know, and the ESB commemorative tin figure set (though I will probably ditch the figures as they are repacks, but the tin is pretty cool!). And, of course, a new club patch, cardback, and badge for my lanyard! All in all, a very good day, full of great people and good times. And the hour+ drive out to middle-of-nowhere Maryland was actually really nice!

And I just pre-ordered the BSG Chief Tyrol figure from Time & Space Toys so I'm getting him for sure! I did the whole $100 gift certificate + free toys route - bonus was they are having a free shipping and 10% off in stock sale this weekend - so I bought one in stock item ("Hush" Gentlemen minimates to terrorize my other buffy minis), then I got 10% off that, and then I was able to pick 3 free buffy figures! I'm going to save that gift certificate for the next wave of BSG figures or minimates.

dear gods of movieland,

next time you are trying to decide what movie to release in a huge, special collector's, reremastered, double disc set with hours bonus goodness -- and before you decide to re-release a movie I just bought last year -- please consider the following:

Poltergeist (1982) -- one of my favorite spooky movies, a true Spielberg classic. Why is it that this crappy "bargain bin" dvd is the only thing readily available?
What I'd like to see? Remastered everything, widescreen, and commentary by someone. And I'd like a bonus disc with any old making of specials from when it was originally released, along with the E! True Hollywood story about the "haunting" of the set.

(EDIT: Just found this which says a 25th anniversary release is in the works...but it is dated Feb 2006...hm) (EDIT 2: I looked a bit more, and I am a n00b, sounds like WB will be releasing a nice set in October! YAY!!!!)

Excalibur (1981) -- Mesmerizing to watch! A beautiful retelling of the Arthurian legend. If you know nothing of the Arthur story, this is a great way to get into the myth (heck, just rewatching it on TV last night, I started to see parallels between Anakin and Uther that I had never really thought of before) Another classic that has been pushed into the bargain bin (though they released it on HD-DVD in 2006 with no new stuff? What gives!)
What I'd like to see? Remaster this! Especially the audio! I want the 'Carmina Burana' blaring from my speakers at the same volume as the rest of the movie (I kept fiddling with the tv volume last night). And give me a double disc set! There's SO much on the 'Arthur' story! If anything, just work out a deal with the History Channel and package it when one of their DVDs! Please! Bonus - package it in a nice box set with a Grail Excalibur replica!
