I'm not there either
Jun. 5th, 2008 12:23 amI've just come to the conclusion that, while I am familiar with Bob Dylan and some of his music and history, I do not know enough about his life to fully appreciate I'm Not There. Its a very cool idea and all, having the different actors represent different aspects of Dylan's personality and parts of his career but I felt lost a lot of the time. Made me want to read a Dylan biography so I could figure out who everyone was representing (I know Julianne Moore was Joan Baez and the French girl is the girl from the cover of Freewheelin' but that is about it.) Perhaps I should have watched it with the commentary first.
I will say that Christian Bale's and Cate Blanchett's Dylan portrayals were spot on, so far as being Dylan in their mannerisms and such. I also got a little depressed seeing Heath Ledger on screen. :(
I should get to bed, I've spent the last hour playing with my iPod, making a new "Top Down" mix for my car and updating my Rock Band mix.
