We survived the road trip up to Boston and Maine in my Mini Cooper (which seemed Mini-er by the mile). I have pictures of Amy experiences her first lobster bake and probably a few other random things which I will upload as soon as I remember where I packed my camera. :\

I'm skimming the flist for the past week. Probably won't comment too much since I'm so far behind.

More random adventure stories (and movie reviews) later.

Maine 2008 pics - yummy lobsters and good times.

Drive up to Boston went very smoothly. Had some crazy weather last Sunday - it hailed while we were crossing the Delaware Memorial Bridge! Luckily, we had Rain-X on our windows so the storm was not as blinding as it could have been. Other than that, we just cruised north. Made the obligatory stop at Friendly's to get my Turkey Supermelt on. I love them but they are so bad for you, so I only get them during car trips.

Boston was a bit damp. Becky said it had rained for a week. I am a genius so all I had packed were shorts and tank tops, ended up being a little chilled. But we wandered around downtown, did the Freedom Trail, hit up some used book stores (my new favorite word: remainder), The Garment District (I got some awesome Muppets pajama pants for 50 cents) and took a detour into Cambridge to check out the Harvard campus. Since Becky works at MIT, she finagled a way for us to go into the game labs area and we got to try out some of the games the grad students made this summer. Lots of fun! They should be uploaded to the Internet soon for everyone to play. Right now, they only have last years games up.

Crammed 4 people into my Mini and drove up to Maine on Wednesday. Had dinner with my Uncle Jim at Three Dollar Deweys then headed over to Gorham and watched some of the Olympic coverage with my grandparents. The weather for the lobster bake was gorgeous, as usual. (I swear, my grandma has connections upstairs, it has never rained on the Lobster Bake in the many years I have attended!) We did a bit of shopping at L.L.Bean and had Amato's "Real Italians" for dinner that night.

Oh, and for all you campers out there, my Uncle Brian as the invention for you! Repose Fire Logs. He just made them and was very excited about appearing on some cable access show in Maine to promote them this week. He set a few up for us and Vincent roasted marshmallows over the fire. If you know anyone that would be interested, please pass on the link. I know he would approve. (He was so proud of the fact that he had a website up and running for the product).

Good times all around. Made it back last night with only a bit of traffic to go around. Felt good to be back in my own bed, though apparently the kitties are wild cats now, attacking my desk while I was gone. Starbuck likes to explore behind the bookshelf, which is unfortunate because you have to go through my BSG figures to get to the back of the books...*sigh*

(we saw the X Files sequel and Pineapple Express, I'll post those thoughts later)
