Jan. 26th, 2013 10:19 pmI am with JoCo on this one. I mean, I never really liked Glee that much anyway, but this just pushes me over the edge for tolerating it to full on not wanting to see it on my TV/Internet ever. FOX - still sucking after all these years.
Just watched a FASCINATING documentary called Searching for Sugar Man. I'm not even sure how to describe it...it's both joyous and heart-breaking at the same moment. About how someone can touch the lives of so many people, an entire country, and not even know it. How that person can have such fame in one part of the world and still live in a tiny apartment in Detroit. How someone can create such beautiful, powerful music and still get lost in the industry shuffle. If you're a fan of...well, LIFE - watch it. I'm still digesting it but it was very powerful and moving.
Much less moving was Amazing Spider-Man which we watched last night. If it wasn't for the combined power of Andrew Garfield AND Emma Stone, I probably would have fallen asleep. Like the Incredible Hulk movie, the ENTIRE PLOT was spoiled in the trailer. Well, the plot they bothered to pay attention to (there were a lot of random things they seemed to drop as the show went on until it was just Spider vs Lizard, like anything more would be too complex for us? Really? We're comic book fans, have you SEEN the crazy arcs we put up with?). I did enjoy it more than the previous film incarnations, Garfield's Spider-Man is a lot more fun than Toby Maguire (he was far more Clark Kent than Peter Parker in those movies). But, in the end, I dont' think I'd bother watching it again. Nothing surprising or special about it, run of the mill superhero movie with more effects than solid story. I would watch the sequel but only because the power of Garfield+Stone compels me.
Though the scenes that were in the first-person mode was Spider-Man ran across the roof top felt like they were lifted from the Mirror's Edge video game...and it make me want a Spider-Man game that was made that way. That would be awesome. Someone get in on that for me now!
