*phew* I feel very drained. Crazy busy weekend and no time to recover. Though some of it is my fault since I invited two buddies over yesterday to bask in our new TV-ness. Worked an 8 hour shift monday and then babysat for a good chunk of yesterday, then stayed up far too late with [livejournal.com profile] verdatum and [livejournal.com profile] dstntp1lgr1m last night. I had today off and I should have gone to the library and done some core reference stuff since thats all due in September and I still have 8 assignments left. But I just felt so blah today, I could not motivate myself to move. I could go now, AD is studying but it's already 5pm and I jsut don't feel like it. *sigh* Tomorrow is gonna be hella long since I babysit alone from 10am until whenever Alex gets home from work. So another long day there. Then Friday I have a short shift but then [livejournal.com profile] dstntp1lgr1m, [livejournal.com profile] destertale, and [livejournal.com profile] blu_harvest and I will be heading over to Ellicot City to get in line for the harry potter midnight release. Saturday is the DCSWCC meeting. Sunday I'm free but I can't do core ref on Sunday cuz the pay on Sundays is all different and it would just screw everything up. I do have Monday off, so maybe I will force my lazy ass over to the library then. Perhaps I'll feel peppy. Yes that's what I need pep!

On the time wasting front, I bought AD guild wars for his birthday and [livejournal.com profile] firesongkvala was kind enough to sell me his unwanted copy on the cheap, so now we can play together. And as soon as we get to a decent level, [livejournal.com profile] zaubervz will probably want to play with us too haha. I've made a Ranger/Mesmer named Melaka Whedon (Fray was taken). Naming has been the hardest part so far though.

Alex & Monica bought AD the new Star Wars trivial pursuit w/ DVD for a birthday present. We played last night, Paul, AD, and Damian vs. me...I won, but barely! They had just won the last piece of the pie when I won the game. I wish 'Scene It' had won the rights for making the game, I'm not sure Parker Bros has the hang of it. When I get the Harry Potter Scene It I'll be able to compare.

how do you like Guild Wars? my boyfriend has been thinking about getting it, especially since there is no monthly fee...at least i think that's right about the fee part. am i right? i don't know much about these games, but if you give me feedback i can pass it on to him and i'm sure he would love to hear it. he plays final fantasy and friends who play matrix online, and all those kinds of games..
thanks!

that's why we got it too. We've never played a MMORPG before, and since Guild Wars had no monthly fee, we figured we'd give it a shot. Only catch is that if you want to play with him, you'll have to buy your own copy. We're having a good time with it though. We just spent 3 hours playing with my brother, so that was fun. All the gaming magazines seem to like it too.

You do realize I'm going to keep trying to talk you into World of Warcraft. ;) Guild Wars can just be your "starter drug." MMORPGs are crack.

WoW sounds cool but we can't afford that $10/month thing. Though AD is already hooked, I can tell haha. He was ready to leave my poor litte Ranger/Mesmer in the dust yesterday!

Not a lot disturbs me, but that icon, the one with the tilting head, that disturbs me every time I see it.

Is that from Spirited Away? What is that?

close - it's from 'Princess Mononoke', which I actually prefer to 'Spirited Away' (i've decided that my brain is far too western for that film). It's called a Kodama, or tree spirit, and they just hand out in the woods.

btw - if you have not seen that you should. And, bonus, I just checked IMDB and apparently the english screenplay was done by Neil Gaiman! He's all over the place!

Sadly, Neil Gaiman did not write the English screenplay for Princess Mononoke. He wrote a screenplay for it, but his work was completely disregarded, in favor of something else.

I have seen Princess Mononoke. I own it, but I have only watched it once, because the dubbing was so egregious and blindly insulting that I never watched it again.

It was the first high profile celebrity dub of an anime film I'd ever heard of. But the voice direction was incompetent, and it really ruined it for me.

I should watch it again, though. It's been a while. Kim and I just saw Howl's Moving Castle, and that was good.

As for the Kodama, I know all about them, because I used to play Magic: The Gathering, and this year's sets are all about Japanese mythology.

first time I watched it I didn't know what the hell was going on, I just didn't get it. Then, for some odd reason, I had an urge to watch it again earlier this year, so I borrowed it from a friend, and this time, it clicked. I dunno why. I really just did not get it the first time around.
