Well, as I found out while leaving the library, the storm knocked out the power at our apartment at 6:30pm yesterday. We didn't get it back until 12:40am last night. Our entire street was out, including the shopping center across the street. It was so dark and so quiet. I actually called AD when I arrived home and asked him to come outside with a flashlight because a)it was really dark and I was afraid I'd fall down the stairs, and b) it was really dark and SCARY! So we ate Taco Bell by candlelight, then realized we hardly had any non-electronic form of entertainment. I read book 3 of Y The Last Man which I loved, but sadly book 4 is not in yet. Then I read a good chunk of Kissing Chaos which is very...well, different kind of storytelling than Y. Had to get my brain to shift gears. So no Guild Wars or icon making for me last night.

I went and picked up the other drugs that my doctor prescribed for my ear infection this afternoon. Unfortunatly, it says if I take them I might get dizzy and drowsy and not to drive after taking them, and I'm supposed to take them twice a day. WHEN I do not know. If I take them in the morning and then drive to work, I'll die. And if I take them at work, I'll probably fall over. And if I wait until I get home at night, it will be too late to take two. Weird. It's an antihistamine designed to get the fluid outta my ears, apparently.

Ooooh, Neverending Story just came in to the library for me! I've been wanting to read that again. I got the fastest Amazon.com order EVER today. Yes, I ordered it on Sunday, did the Super-Savings free shipping and still got it this morning! WOW. So I'm carrying Finding Serenity around with me now. Read Jane Espenson's intro and the first essay about the details in the characters and the set. I need more bookends so I can display these new aquisitions and not worry about them falling over (my Harry Potters are all balanced right now, I'm just waiting to bump into the bookshelf with my chair and cause an avalanche).

I've been invited to two gatherings this weekend and I can't decide if I want to go to either of them still. One of them is on Friday, it's sort of a Summer Reading Program is over gathering at a steakhouse in Crofton. It would be nice, but I work until 5pm at Brooklyn Park, which is about as far north as I could be in the county and I don't feel like getting outta there and rushing home to change and then rushing down there for food. Then again, steak sounds yummy. Hm. Then Perri invited me over to watch "Shaun of the Dead" on Sunday night. I've seen Shaun before but I thought it might be fun since [livejournal.com profile] blu_harvest and Bill will be there. They amuse me. But it's my only day off this week. Sooo, I'm not sure if I want to spend it driving around. Next week I work like crazy because I'm gonna be outta town the week after and I wanted to stockpile the money.

I tried to get [livejournal.com profile] destertale to come with me to Boston but she's working. I wanted [livejournal.com profile] verdatum to come but he's probably gonna be too busy with his summer course. Which means I will end up riding with my parents. Thing is, they are going up from Sunday to Saturday, and i didn't really intend to go up for that long. And I really have no mad desire to be in a car with my dad for that long. He seems to be going crazy. *sigh*

okay, I need to look like I'm working now.

Are you enjoying Kissing Chaos? It's almost Tarantino like I think. Film noir-ey...at any rate. :)

Take a change of clothes with you to BPK, if you really feel the need. Otherwise just come as is, most people that are getting off work to go will be in work clothes. Or just come a little late! You don't need to be there right at 5:30. Give me a call, I'll save you a seat. ;)

*cries* I really did want to go to Boston. ;_; Stupid work! LOL Maybe next time?

oh yes I'm enjoying it! Very different, and I can see how you could compare it to Tarantino. Probably have it finished later this week.

I LOVE amazon.com! I ordered the Firefly DVDs and one of my poli sci books on monday, and they were delivered today! I love how they tell you that it'll take longer to ship w/the free shipping but it never does. It makes me so happy and feel so special.. lol ^_^

hey, all hope is not lost, you could always get a one way bus ticket to Boston mid week (around $17?) and I'll drive you back for the lobsterbake. Or maybe even better, I can drive you down here after the lobsterbake and your folks can pick you up on the way back. (that's assuming I'm still invited up to Maine.. haven't heard a thing from Jim for a while, and I'm putting off calling him until I finish HP, which was supposed to happen tonight but it's not looking good..). The extended Grady family is awesome, but a week is a long time..

yipes! It seems half of my friend's list got this storm!

We just saw 'War of the Worlds' on tuesday, and Adrian said he was freakin out since the movie begins with crazy weather. When you said lightning struck near by, I thought of that! haha. Look out, the aliens are coming!
