Okay, remember how yesterday, I said I was working 1-5? Well, this morning, around 7:30, I suddenly had this weird feeling that I hadn't updated my calendar since last week. I tossed and turned in bed until about 7:50, then I hopped up to check and see if I was right.
I was. I had extended my shift from 9-5! Whoops! Luckily, it only takes me about 30 minutes to get ready, and the library is just 15 minutes away, so I was fine, but still, I hadn't mentally prepared myself for waking up early. I get to sleep in tomorrow and Saturday though, as my shifts don't start until the afternoon (and that I know for sure because Provinces doesn't even open until 1 on Fridays).
There's a heat advisory in effect today until 8pm. I'm here until 5. My car has no air conditioning. I'm so gonna melt when I leave today. I tried to park in the one spot that is usually in the shade here, but according to weather.com, it's the humidity that's going to be disgusting. I gotta brave it out though and get to the comic shop! I wussed out yesterday (I was depressed because Circuit City was STILL sold out of the Lego Star Wars game, so I can't exchange my copy). Today, I have to try and make it.
I'm about halfway through Finding Serenity, the book of essays about Firefly (though I figure people see it and assume it's some sorta meditation manual). So far, I'm really enjoying it. The first few essays were alright, but all the meat is really in the middle. I just read one about Objects in Space and existentialism (which joss discusses in the commentary, but the author explains it), then one about Wash & Zoe as a couple, and now I'm on one about Zoe as the new warrior woman. Good stuff. If you're a fan of Firefly, pick it up.
I leave for Maine on Sunday.
jimithingy can't come because of his summer course. It makes me sad. I feel bad that he won't be there. We haven't been apart for that period of time in over a year now! It's just gonna be weird not having him there to give me hugs. But it's just a week. And for a chunk of that week, I'll be in Boston with Becky so that will keep my distracted. And then Thursday I'll be munching on lobster, and hopefully my mom's plan to go to Plymouth or on the Freedom trail will work out so I'll keep busy. *breathe* it's just a week.
I don't know if I'll have e-mail access up there. I should, it's just that I will have to use my grandma's computer, which is an iMac. I fear Macs. They are just so foriegn to a windows based user. Plus I think she still has dial-up! I don't know if I could deal with that! haha. I might have to try though, I doubt I can make it a week with no LJ! or E-mail!
Anyhoo, post some interesting stories to your LJ so I have something to read while it's slow! :-)

Re: Away Sleep Demons!
Date: 2005-08-05 01:24 am (UTC)I left the library today with a couple Albert Camus books; The Plague and The Fall. I own Myth of Sysiphus, because Joss mentioned it in the firefly commentary so I bought it. Still haven't read it yet. He also talked about Sartre, but he scares me a little. He's not a happy existentialist.
