Okay, so I just checked to see if any of my DCSWCC peeps wanted to get in on some calendar/datebook ordering action, and I figured I'd ask my flist too. Um, this probably only applies to people who live close to me, since I'm figuring group order = save on price and shipping. But the people who make my spiffy LotR datebook have a little deal that if you order 3 or more of their items, you get $3 off each item. Which means instead of paying $12 for the book, it would only be $9, which is more along the lines of what I'm willing to pay.

Anyhoozit, if any of you maryland peeps want in on this 2006 action, let me know. I want to place the order this month so I can start scheduling PTH stuff for next year (the sunday schedules are already waiting). OH, suppose I should give you the website so you can browse - http://www.cedco.com/

oh, and in Jossverse news - the new edition of Slayage is online! Wish it wasn't so many pages or I'd just print the gorram thing out. One of them is from a new book about Buffy, Angel and families. Which I am hoping to get for christmas. Looks like interesting stuff. Always a good read for when you're stuck on the desk.

Not much else doin' today. Working the 5-9 shift at West County today, which has been pretty good so far. It just came to a grinding hault at 8pm though...just kids on computers. No real questions.

I have a TON of books checked out right now. Yesterday, I took home The Complete Bone which a lot of comics/graphic novel people had reccomended to me. It's a bit odd, I read the first two chapters today. Bone looks like a naked smurf. Only white.

I also got Assasination Vacation which is kinda silly cuz I want to buy it since I own everything else by Sarah Vowell. She cracks me up. But I wanted to flip thru it.

Before that, a copy of Eragon finally arrived for me. Patrons who have enjoyed Harry Potter have reccomended this to me, so I figured I'd give it a whirl. It is compared to LotR on the back, which doesn't bode well as I never made it past the first chapter in those books.

Today, I check out His Dark Materials Book 1 : The Golden Compass which for some reason was floating in my head. Then I was looking at a friends netflix list and she had the "making of the books" documentary on her list and I remembered seeing the trilogy on the shelf at Becky's apartment and thought maybe I should look into them. [livejournal.com profile] blu_harvest gave them a...well it really wasn't a positive or negative review, just sort of a "brace yourself" sorta comment haha. Hope I'm ready for it. Mostly, we were discussing the fact that originally, book 1 of the series was shelved under J Fiction, but after book 2 came out, it was moved over to Y fiction. Intriguing to say the least.

Meanwhile - I'm halfway thru A Case of Need which has finally gotten past the gross autopsy, doctor parts, and is well into the "whodunit" area. Which is good because it was making me nauseous. I kinda want [livejournal.com profile] maybemanda and [livejournal.com profile] miss_tinkermel to read this and tell me if any of the information in it still applies to today, as the book was written in the late 60s.

Also, I still have a bookmark in Everything Bad is Good For You. I just got to part II of the book, which I'm hoping will stop telling me what I already know (there are more to [insert pop culture thing] than meets the eye) into some real meaty stuff that I can actually discuss with people.

I also need to finish Make Love The Bruce Campbell Way but it's sorta gotten a bit slow. I feel like it's my duty as a Bruce fan to read the book but right now I'm more interested in the other titles I've just listed. (though you should click on the "look inside" thing and see how ridiculously large the print is....)

I checked out Long Way Round a few weeks ago too, and I'm itching to read it. I just found out I could download the documentary. I was hoping it was out on DVD, but no luck finding it, so I'll just watch it on my computer. Hopefully after watching it, I'll be psyched to read the book.

And then there's Will in the World which I checked out after seeing Othello because I saw it in the gift shop and was tempted to buy a book that the Shakespeare Theater would stock...then decided it was best I just borrow it. I've read the introduction.

And for my J-Fiction, I have Down the Rabbit Hole which a a mystery and it's on a list of "controversial" J books that I read ages ago...so now I can't remember why it's considered controversial.

My floor of books is not complete without at least one copy of Transmetropolitan, right now I have Tales of Human Waste, which is labeled as volume 0 but looks like it's more of a chance for fans of the series who are also artists to take a spin in the skin of Spider and his filthy assistants. Have I mentioned that I love this series?

I have six other books currently on order....I'm not even gonna tell you what those are.

Wow, look at the time! Typing up a list of all my books and linking them really made that last hour fly by! Gotta chase these kids out now so I can go home and have some yummy Chili!
