we're all doomed!
Oct. 24th, 2005 02:08 pmwent over to my parents yesterday to show them the red hair (or whats left of it, it's faded quite a bit!). Stole Doom 3 and Ico from
zauber_vz which I played a bit of last night. I left the lights by the couch off when I popped in Doom 3. Then
jimithingy turned the rest off while I was playing! I have to say, I yelled and jumped quite a few times.
I haven't really played too many ported games before. At least, not after seeing the regular game. But Doom doesnt look as pretty on the Xbox as it does on PC. Load times are still pretty bad too. But the game plays pretty smoothly. And I am better at FPS's on the consoles. It goes against my usual mode of play though. I'm all about the slowly walking into a room to look for baddies. Well, in Doom 3, you might walk by a wall, and once you pass a certain point, that wall will drop and a monster will be behind it!! That's tense. And to top it off, I'm so used to auto-save and save points in video games that I totally forgot to save my game haha. Luckily, I died right after a checkpoint, so I restarted then saved.
Then I popped in 'Ico', which is the exact opposite kind of game. Very quiet and pretty and puzzley. Sadly, I was stuck in about 4 seconds. Help me out here Ico-players: after the monster grabs the Princess, what do I do?? I picked up the stick and ended up swinging it like a psycho but nothing happened!
zauber_vz was showing me a bit of Shadow of the Collosus yesterday too. And Bill was talking about it on Saturday. That game scares me. It's very VERY pretty. I'd even call it beautiful. But I hate boss battles, and a game that's entirely boss battles is just asking for me to get frustrated and throw the controller across the room.
I cannot wake up today. I even made sure I was going to bed at 1:30. I put down Kitchen Confidential and I put my head on the pillow and fell asleep. And I'm still tired. Groggy. Uck. I'm not a morning person at all and the 9-5 shifts just wear me out. But I only have a few more hours left today, so yay!
