Legend of Korra is back!!!

Soooooooooo did anyone watch the hour-long premiere of Legend of
Korra???? What did everyone think?

The whole time I was watching I kept thinking:



You know, Aang was like Luke Skywalker and Korra is turning out to be a LOT
like Anakin...oh shit.

You know, Aang was a lot like Buffy and Korra is turning out to be more
Faith...oh shit.

Obviously, shit was going down at the end of the second episode that looked
very much like a military occupation and that will not end well at all.
Her uncle is clearly evil and I would not be surprised to find out that
whatever he is doing to the spirits when he waves his arms around is just
as upsetting to them as killing their forests.

Curious to see what the connection will be with Tenzin's trip to the air
temples. Clearly it is all going to come together somehow.

I had to consistently remind myself that Korra is a 16 year old girl and that 16 year old girls (16 year olds in general, really) are notorious for thinking with their feels and ignoring adults. Basically making terrible decisions they have to make to learn from properly. Because she can't blindly follow what adults tell her, whether it's good or bad. She has to do what she feels is right, but hooboy right now I'm like BUT YOU ARE MAKING ALL THE WRONG DECISIONS AND PS YOUR BOYFRIEND HAS NO IDEA HOW TO EVEN HANDLE YOU HE IS SO EFFING CONFUSED JSYK.

I'm glad she addressed the fact she was treating Mako like crap (though I hope Mako has addressed the fact he treated Asami pretty badly too - he is not forgiven). I also am not seeing a very good future for Makorra right now unless they both figure out how to make this really work.

Basically I had to turn off my judgy thoughts because I know Korra is making a journey physically, spiritually and mentally and it can't happen all at once. However, patience- and learning-wise, I feel like she has backslid terribly since last season. She was maturing a bit leading up to and post Amon, but she's gone back to her MY WAY RIGHT NOW sensibility. I worry that this Unalaq think will blow up in her face terribly, but maybe she'll learn a permanent lesson.

In case it isn't clear though, I LOVE Korra and her complexities. When I want to punch and hug a character at the same time, that's real love.
