I'm sorry, this is the first time this has happened to me and I'm very upset - someone is stealing my graphics (along with many other peoples) and posting them as their own. To make it worse, this person is HOTLINKING, not even removing them from my site! This really REALLY makes me upset. It's unfair to all of us icon makers to have this happen.

So if you're bored at work, and feel like dispensing a little justice - fill out the violation of hotlinking form at xanga and tell them "Star_Wars_Chicky" is hotlinking to my site. I figure if we annoy them enough, they will yell at her. Heck, pick ANY icon from that site and report is as stolen because they all are! She did not make a single one. So frustrating!!!

in the meantime, I (and lots of other graphics makers) have to go redo their sites to break the offending links....possibly replacing them with someone rude....

i know, right? Is that all they do there is link to other people's stuff?? I don't think I've ever just seen a regular xanga site that wasn't some strange person.

and the person who runs that one is strange...not really sure they are over 12 yet...scary.

I hate the Xanga styles. It's like, "you can put MUSIC and CURSORS and A SCROLLING BOX WITH ALL YOUR PICTURES and a CAMERA ALL ON YOUR SITE!" It's just too much.. and a lot of times you can't even read the entries. Before they let them create the style a window should pop up that says:

"Are you sure you want to add music, weird angel-shaped cursors, a text messaging box, a scrolling banner of stolen icons, AND your personal webcam to your site? Your site may look cluttered and unprofessional, and will probably take several minutes to load on any computer. If you're sure, and want to create that monstrosity of a webpage, click OK."

The one that's hotlinking is like blogging on Crack, Speed, and Four Shots of Espresso at the same time. I was afraid it was going to crash my computer. Seriously.

That is so rude. It's not me she's doing it to, but I'm so incredibly irritated by this anyway.

I dunno, I've had a Xanga for a little over two years now and as long as I stay within my friends' pages, I haven't had to put up with any of that. I do enjoy the greater flexibility of its customizations, as long as you don't go out of control and overload your page with random blinking crap, and it's good enough for a day to day online journal. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of preteen obnoxious fuckers on there, but when used right it can be pretty good. Still not as good as LJ, of course. ;)

I'm in college, and about half my friends that have Xanga really like the transparent entry boxes that make them impossible to read against their inspiring nature backgrounds. And the songs that are cute sometimes, but mostly interfere with what I'm listening to and slow my computer down. But most of them are sensible enough to have legible Xangas--thank goodness.

I do like the way Xanga goes through earlier entries; I don't like the 'day view' that LJ does after so many pages. And I LOVE the subscriptions. It's so much easier than going through everyone's journals. However, the website isn't navigable enough for me (I end up going in two or three circles before I find the link I'm looking for.) I just think that Xanga might offer a few *too* many customizations for those preteens that are get on there with the attitude of "OMGILOVEXANGAIWANTEVERYTHINGONIT!!!!1!1!11!"

But to each his own. :) I've had my LJ since 2002, so I'm super-comfortable with it and wouldn't be able to handle having to learn Xanga, even though I did sign up for one so I could comment in my friends' journals. ^_^

Yea, the customizations can go to one's head, lol. And the 'day view' annoys me too. *twitch* But other than those, I do like LJ much better. It's just more more... crisp and organized. ^_^

yes, I have seen that. :) It's pretty amusing. Of course, adding puppets to any fandom will guarantee good times hehe

if I didn't have to look at goatse/old naked men to find the image to replace it, I'd do it haha.

sounds like Xanga is one step up from MySpace...at least every time I go to a Xanga site, the ad isn't a giant pair of boobs. *hugs LJ's add-freeness*

Dude, I'm sorry to say, hun, but that's so f-ed up. *hugs* I can't believe that someone would be so lazy and arrogant to a)claim your work and their own, and b) hotlink. I can't believe people these days. I'm sorry, sweets. *hugs*

yeah, I updated my site so hopefully all of the links are broken now. It's so very frustrating, I saw lots of different icons up there (the 'how do you like my darkness now' one you use so often, for example) and I felt bad.

but I'm over it now! I've moved on! I'm making more icons haha.
