bit of excitment on friday night
Dec. 10th, 2005 02:32 pmSo, I came home from the movie last night to
jimithingy standing by the door telling me "we have a bit of a situation here". He gestured to the sliding glass door, which appeared to be covered with ice...then I realized, on closer examination, that it was, in fact, shattered into a billion pieces. But somehow it was still standing. You could hear the glass popping and crackling as it settled into place. He told me he had just run over to the Exxon station behind us to grab some coca cola. When he came back, he slid shut the door and it cracked. The guy tried to call the glass company but they said they couldn't come out until Monday! So we pretty much spent the rest of the night hoping a strong wind wouldn't blow the glass in. At 9:30am this morning, one of the other maintenence guys popped in to tape tarp up over the glass, so if it did decide to shatter, it would all fall outside.
I took some pictures of the door because it has to be seen to be believed. I'll post them when I get home from work today.
edit some pictures of the brokenness
Yes, I'm at work today. The computers are all busy...I am not. And I feel all groggy, because my alarm was set for 10, but the maintenence guy woke us up at 9:30 and I couldn't really go back to sleep for the 10 minutes that were left after he was done putting up the tarp. Then, of course, I felt like I had all this extra time, and I didn't rush while eating my breakfast or taking my shower. In fact, I took so much extra time that I ended up running late! *headdesk*
I just finished up my break for the day. One of the pages was on his break too and he had his laptop going, playing a mix of music. He eventually got into 60s music and them TV theme songs, which I roxxored guessing in the first few seconds. haha. My brain is so full of random crap. I mean, who really needs to be able to identify the Dick Van Dyke show theme in 3 seconds or less?
