the bandit returns!
Mar. 25th, 2006 09:06 pmso many things to post about, -- I still need to rant about this week's episode of lost, plus we watched 'mirrormask' with the gang last night so I want to discuss that.
but first - lets talk TOYS!
Yes, the DCSWCC had another fantastic meeting today at the library. Much fun was had. The theme for the meeting was "video games" which turned out to be too big of a topic to cover in one meeting. Whoops, now we know! Got to feel all nostalgic as we discussed early console games, n64 games, X-Wing, Tie Fighter, and the Dark Forces series. haha, oh, I remember loading up X-Wing on the computer and thinking "OMG these are the best graphics EVER!" haha. After seeing screenshots from that game, I suddenly understood what polygon shading really does. Still good games though. Wish they'd go back and pretty them up and re-release them. It would be better than some of the crap they've been putting out.
I did cheer loudly for KOTOR and Republic Commando. Definately 2 of my favorites, though I heard someone complaining about the ending of Republic Commando and I had to agree. I just hope they are working on a sequel. I miss my troops (they did NOT follow order 66!!! they...they ran away...and built a house together....or something. Scorch is fine! he's not evil and he's FINE!)
As usual, I spent far too much money. I was already in debt to people before the meeting and I ended up buying a few extra things while there. So, adding to my collection list I now have:
Willow & Tara : Together Forever action figures (these might come to work with me...along with Kitty Fantastico. They'd be so cute on my desk)
Dark Willow (she might come to work instead...I just want to see everyone's reaction to this dark witch with a pentagram base on my desk...)
9 packs of 'Serenity' trading cards (ZOMG - I got a pieceworks card with a piece of Kaylee's shirt attatched!!!!!)
Legend of Zelda : 4 Swords Adventure and Gameboy connection cable (it was the only zelda game
jimithingy didn't have! and it was on sale cheap!)
Mario Party 5 (I like this one better than 6...
dstntp1lgr1m used to bring it over, now I can play it myself!)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer - movie novelization (someone gave this to me...Sam is synonymous with Buffy now...this makes me smile)
Spudtrooper (I'm going to give this to the kids I babysit to, as I was just informed I *might* be getting one as a late birthday present next month)
Brian K Vaughan comics (I could have gotten more but I didn't want to break the bank)
btw if anyone on here collects comics and wants to buy some, my buddy in the club is trying to get rid of his collection; he'd be much happier to put them in "a good home" rather then putting them up on ebay. I can get him to send you a list or something if you're interested.
the 'Serenity' card made me very happy. My base set is very nearly complete. I have a lot of the promo cards too.
okay, I'll update about the Mirrormask shindig and Lost later. This post has taken up enough of your time ;)

Date: 2006-03-26 03:08 am (UTC)The buffy figures were from a group order we did with Cinequest (http://www.cinequest.com/) when they were on sale.
the comics were from a collector who was cleaning out his stuff and knew I would take care of them.
I did a general SOS for Serenity cards ages ago and was finally able to meet up with the person who bought some for me. for some reason, none of the stores by me carry non-sport trading cards. *shrug*
