Another book I'll need for my collection: Firefly : The Official Companion - volume 1? So either they were unable to cover all 13 episodes in one book OR they are the most wishful-est thinkers ever. :) Either way, it will be mine!!!...on Sept 30th.

I don't understand why anyone buys an "official companion" to a TV series. What information is in there that you could possibly want?

well, I've just made it my goal to collect all the Firefly related books. Whedonverse lends itself to the non-fiction book collecting.

I've found that deciding beforehand to buy all of the x-related books can get me into trouble. I'll go into the store, and they'll have something new, and it'll be really expensive, and I'll say, "Well, I decided on this a long time ago, and I haven't changed my mind yet, so it must be a good purchase."

That's how I managed to spend 100 bucks Canadian on the Doctor Who DVDs without feeling bad about it. It wasn't a bad purchase. Just not a great price. Hey, I saved four dollars, though.

You and me both need to curb our spending. One of these days, (yesterday, for instance) we're going to look at our things and say, "How could anyone amass this much pop culture?" And then we're going to go out and buy more.

Because we do that.

yeah, I'm attempting to do "focus collecting" as the star wars people call it - just picking X of something instead of EVERYTHING (like, you know, need all the Yoda figures but not the rest of them). It works well if I stick with non-fiction books for my fandoms because those are usually classier and better reads than the crappy "novelizations" that come out.

though I did buy the Serenity novelization...but that's different because I was on a mission to have all Serenity merch and there isn't as much of that as there is Star Wars or Buffy.
