orangerful: (loud noises // orangerful)

Had some more LATI training today, this time at the West County branch - a pleasant 20 minute drive from my apartment. First half of the training was very interesting - it was all about web searching, search engines, metafilters and other ways of finding stuff online. I pretty much default to google at all times, so it was nice to hear about Yahoo, Ask, and a few other search engines that are out there.

The second half of the program was on blogging. And I might not be an expert on blogging, but as far as blogging basics go, I'm pretty much there. But part of the exercise of the day was to set up a blog on Blogger. So now you'll get another google hit when you type in "orangerful".

I think that makes 5 blogs for me - livejournal, xanga, MySpace, Starwars.com, and now Blogger. *headdesk*

I think I've posted once to the starwars blog, I was going to make it a collecting blog, but i'm too lazy to log into Hyperspace and post haha. I should start posting there so I can be cool like [livejournal.com profile] snarkel. MySpace is annoying so I don't post there. Xanga is me tricking co-workers to come to my livejournal. And Blogger....what shall I do with you???

I want to change my livejournal layout again...I think I want to use the natalie header i made, or perhaps make a jewel staite header that mimics my new wallpaper....hm...what to do what to DO!

OH! Also, during LATI, I went ahead and set up a feed for my friends website - [livejournal.com profile] brownbookloft. She's a librarian and reviews books on a pretty regular basis, so if you need some readers advisory, she can help you out. Her blog is pretty nice too, she's set up on typepad. If you want to peruse the actual site, it's http://www.brownbookloft.com

It worked, Sam!

Well, it worked. You tricked at least one of your coworkers into visiting your Live Journal site. Your posts are just too interesting to ignore. As I'm sure you've noticed, pop culture is not high on my personal interest list. I'll probably never buy a Star Wars ornament, a Buffy book, or a People magazine, but at least I'll try to remember that they exist and that they're important icons of our culture. Plus, the information may come in handy for one of my Washington Post Magazine crossword puzzles.

hmmm. no cute little smilies on this site.

haha, no smilies. We're beyond smilies here. We make elaborate icons like the ones I have on the right haha. Well, not everyone, but my circle of people do.

I tend to babble about everything, so hopefully you'll find at least one conversation that will spur your interest. As long as I keep remembering to update my xanga with links over here! :D

Create my own icons? *runs and hides* I'm out of my league here. *deep breath* Ok, back to Xanga where I'll be safe from the temptation to become a creative icon genius.

no no, don't run! You don't have to create your own - you just hang out with someone cool like me who has a whole webpage full of icons for people to use - www.orangerful.com! I made all of those and I share them!

though it is addictive, I have mad photoshop skillz thanks to livejournal. But it's fun to make something pretty!
