It's the Superman Returns Trailer!

And the plot it not at ALL what I thought it would be. This isn't a remake of 'Superman', this is a whole new story.

*crosses fingers* please be good, please be good.....

for those of you more familiar with the 'Superman' myth than me, does the plot of the movies ring any bells with you? Is this something from the comic series?

I watched several years of Smallville just for Tom Welling. As did my mom. That boy is sizzling. And from the interviews I have read, he really is a sweetheart too, which is nice.

And Christopher Reeve as Superman, oh yes. He will always be Superman. *plays with his little curl*

I cannot get the trailer to play. Which saddens me. But if the trailer reveals something like Superman returning from a long abscense in space that did indeed happen in the comic. He had exciled himself after breaking his code against killing by executing the Kryptonian criminals. I have no idea why he would have felt that bad in the movie. I can't wait to see the movie. ( and the trailer...)

wow...um...yeah that is the trailer actually haha. That and Kevin Spacey going all out looney for us. Hopefully you can get it to run at some point. It's so very pretty.

I've managed to stay spoiler-free so far, and I'm trying to stay that way. The shuttle/plane rescue is similar to the man of steel #1 (circa 1986) where John Byrne rebooted the comics - where Superman's first public appearance was in plain-clothes saving a space shuttle that Lois was aboard.

That same series had Lex with a big yacht, tho thats hardly that much of a stretch.

Superman returning to the remains of Krypton was done in a comic before.

But Lois having someone else's kid - that I think is a first.

The whole RETURNS bit I guess could be alike Kingdom Come/Dark Knight Returns where the hero returns after a long unexplained absence.

Thats about all I know about the plot of the film, so I cant make any other links to past Superman mythos.


But goddamn that trailer has knocked me into a daze. When the Williams score kicks in I get goosebumps. Thank god this was released on the internet yesterday, or I was going to go and see Mission Impossible 3 yersterday JUST for the Superman trailer!

I'm really excited about this movie now, in a whole new way. Knowing that it will be something so different really makes me want to see it.

And John Williams' score (and Marlon Brando's face in the crystals) gave me insane goosebumps. I'm so happy that they were able to use Williams' music, it's so perfect...

Here's my understanding, Yes Kal'el/Superman/Clark Kent is returning not just from exile but from some long journey. There are a few possible reasons for this. (this is info that my ex-girlfrined explained to me for she is a BIG superman freak).

He could be retruning from a self-exile do to his 'killing' the other Kryptonians but this not likely.

There is the off chance that he was summoned off planet (but any left over Kytonians) to enlist in aid and help for 'his own people.'

Somewhere along the line, he feels theneed to return to the only home he truely knew, Earth. But Earth has not seen him for sometime and has learned to live a "life with out Superman," hence the title Superman Returns.

Out Favorite hero must now try to find a way to re-insert his superhero identity and his cover, Clark Kent, back into the Human race. Will he be feared again? Will they reject him since he abandoned them for so long? Will he EVER get the girl of his dreams?

This I cannot answer for I have been trying to remain spoiler free.
