my fingers smell like butter and soap...
May. 16th, 2006 10:56 pmthe good news: my trading cards that I've been waiting forever for finally arrived today! I checked my email and it said it had shipped, and I checked the tracking and it said "out for delivery" so I was hoping that they would be here. I think I scared the UPS man because I yelled "YAY!" when I saw him at the door. So I now have a complete set of the Firefly and Veronica Mars trading cards, with at least one autograph card from each set and a small collection of the rarer inserts. (We got Aaron Echolls' shirt here people!).
I also got a box of the 'young indiana jones chronicles' trading cards, which I haven't opened yet. I was savoring the buzz from the Firefly cards.
worrisome news:
jimithingy called Gamestop and they did not have Mario DDR in stock. They still said it would be in "sometime this week" though so he's going to check back for me. I checked their website -- it's gone from Reserve Now! status to Backordered, which scares me.
Also, the cover art for the new star wars dvds was announced. Like most things coming out of Lucasfilm nowadays, I'm not superthrilled with these boxes. Was there anything wrong with the old-school posters? Ah well. I'm slightly irked that they are not being sold as a set either - you have to purchase all 3 dvds seperately, and currently each dvd will be priced at $20. AND they will only be on sale Sept - Dec '06. So not a lot of time to see if they will end up in the bargain bin. Here's hoping that Best Buy does a midnight madness on September 12th!

Date: 2006-05-17 03:57 am (UTC)You know what sucks about it? I don't want to buy another copy of the remastered films. I'd be happier to pay the same price for just the original version of the film, but they're making us feel like we're buying what we've already got, for the sake of a revised special feature, and that sounds like a stupid thing to do.
They're doing it this way so they don't have to admit that the original version could possibly be better. They're probably marketing it with a, "Here's the awesome version of the film, and as a bonus feature that nobody's ever going to watch, we've included the crappy-ass original film as it appeared in *snicker* 1977."
You know, all they really had to do was fix the few things they got wrong, like making Han shoot first, and removing Jabba from A New Hope...removing the title, "A New Hope," from Star Wars, which is what the film is called....restoring the original puppet musicians to Jabba's palace...apologizing to the fans...you know, the usual stuff.
The Special Editions were a good idea. They were just done wrong.

Date: 2006-05-17 06:22 am (UTC)I'm with you, how nice would it be to have the original movie posters on the cover, maybe even aged too to give it a nice retro feel.

If I ever meet him, I'll probably hug him and then kick him. hard.
