confusing myself
May. 23rd, 2006 11:16 pmSo I'm reading two books at the same time - which I do a lot now since I've got so many things checked out.
But this time, the book I'm reading at work and the book I'm reading at home have very similar plot lines - both are about lower-middle class families (one in the UK, one in Australia) who are in financial troubles. In both books, there are a set of brothers. And in both books they find a unique way of getting extra cash.
In 'Millions', the brothers find the cash after it "falls" off a train on it's way to being disposed of before the big pound/euro change over.
In 'Fighting Ruben Wolfe', the two brothers get talked into joining a local underground boxing group.
okay okay, so the plots are a bit different, but the brother interaction is very similar. One brother, the "dorkier" brother, the younger brother, is narrating the book. This younger brother adores his older brother but at the same time is trying to figure him out.
The two books are starting to melt together in my mind. The only thing is that 'Fighting Ruben Wolfe' is a YA book, so more bad things happen. 'Millions' is a children's novel so nothing too bad has cropped up, apart from their mom being dead....but she died before the book even started.
