So, when I was little, my mom's friend Robyn made me my first mix tape, which I loved.

In fact, it stood the test of time, and I still listen to it on occasion. Great mix of kids tunes and classic rock.

Today, I saw the commercial for the new Fruity Cheerios. And the song they used was one of the songs from my old mix tape. Specifically Donovan's song 'Happiness Runs'. Now any time I listen to that song, I'll think of Cheerios. And anytime anyone hears me listening to that song, they'll think it's because I like Fruity Cheerios!

*shakes fist* CURSE YOU CHEERIOS!!!!

Someday when I get my act together I'm going to write REM and thank them for not selling out and selling off their songs, which are a soundtrack for much of my life. Well, sure, there was Superman, but I'm thinking that since they didn't write that song, they didn't have control over it.

And Devo has a LOT to answer for, for that whole Swiffer thing.. I'm not thrilled about associating The Cars with a Big Box Store either..

yeah, I'm sure the anti-depressent companies are begging to use 'Everybody Hurts' and REM says "oh hellz no!" every time. ;)

Devo and Swiffer, that was painful. The worst is when they actually change the words - like Elton John's "Sassoon says so much". *shakes head* that was a sad day...

I would NEED anti-depressants if REM did that! (although that song was never one of my favorites) Hmm.. now I'm going to have to check through their songs to see which are in danger. Good thing Orange Crush is about agent orange..
