christmas loots
Jan. 1st, 2007 05:41 pmWell, I've been so busy with the holidays, traveling around, getting my Mini, that I haven't had a chance to tell you about all the cool stuff I got this year! (because I know you want to hear about it har-har)
You already know about my Buffy Library Playset. But wait, there's more!
jimithingy got me a brand new flat widescreen monitor! It's huge! and very very bright. (1440 x 900). Now I have to make a bunch of new desktops that will actually fill up the screen!
He also got me a display case for my action figures. The best part was how he got it "under the tree". He wrapped a posterboard sized piece of foam core along with an exacto knife, the explaination being that I could download backgrounds from some of the star wars diorama sites and create settings for my figures and then display them in the case (which he had a print out of and had taped to the package). We've built the case, though I haven't made any special displays yet. Right now, most of my 3 1/2" figures are in there, while the Galactic Heroes have taken over the top of our bookshelf.
Those were the tree big boxes under our tree. I also received a Superman Returns 2007 calendar, Y The Last Man vol 8: Kimono Dragons, V for Vendetta DVD, some new pens, pop rocks, silly putty and some choxie hot chocolate mix (omg sooooo good!!!). And a copy of the latest Buffy magazine.
Then we went over to my parents, and I got even more good stuff -- Alfred Hitchcock Pop Up Book (it's weird but cool), a GorillaPod for my camera, an iPod Nano (green) to replace my shuffle, Death Cab for Cutie's "Photo Album" CD, and Okami for the pS2. My grandparents sent me a "roadside safety kit" to keep in the back of my car.
Then we hiked up to
jimithingy's parents house in NJ and did christmas there. Lots of DVD-shaped gifts for me -- Red Dwarf series I - IV, Superman Returns, LA Story Special Edition, and The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.. Also a stack of books from my favorite Pop Smart series -- Getting Lost, Star Wars on Trial, and The Unauthorized X-Men. And I got some Whedon-related items too - The Firefly Visual Companion vol.1 and The Aesthetics of Culture in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Plus more comics - BKV's Pride of Baghdad and the Superman Returns prequels.
And what holiday would be complete without video games? I snagged 2 for my DS - Mario & Luigi: Partners In Time (it's a mario RPG) and Yoshi's Island DS. Both of these games feature baby versions of the main characters...go figure! They are both really really fun though! We also got a really nice set of sheets that are unbelievably soft. Stocking stuffers included some cute earrings, orange mittens (convertible like my Mini, you can pull the finger covers off!), a Lost jigsaw puzzle (1000 pieces and no picture to go by!!!) and bookmarks!
I also got a $20 gift card, which I spent yesterday on the new Star Wars mini-Unleashed packs that came out. And a Best Buy gift card, which I used to get Superman The Movie the 4 disc special edition, and then
jimithingy used the rest (combined with his xmas cash) to get us an Xbox 360! Yowza.
All in all, I made out like a freakin' BANDIT yet again!
