I was attempting to find clips from the US version of coupling, just to compare. I found some 30 second ones and they were very very painful. This classic clip from the REAL 'Coupling' came up while I was searching, and it's just so good I figured I'd post it. :D Because it's good to have Steve's speeches on hand for a giggle.

btw, if anyone objects to the embedded video thing (I'm not 100% sure I'm down with it) let me know. I might go back and hide it under a cut. This was sort of an experiment to see if it worked.

Nothing wrong with embedding video. It doesn't start until you click it, and so many people are embedding now, without receiving complaints.

I have a wicked pile of graphic novels out of the library right now, you know. Just so you know.

haha- that was pretty funny! I'll have to check out this show. What's the problem with the US one? Aside from the accent.. (I just posted on another blog my theory that anything said with a British accent is inherently funnier, although it's probably presumptuous to call that *my* theory)

yes, definately check out 'Coupling' if you have a chance (Netflix has the whole series, and it's british so it's not as big a commitment to watch an entire season as it is with a US show).

I haven't actually seen an entire episode of the U.S. version but just from watching the clips something is very...off. Maybe it's timing, maybe it's the spirit of the thing, I don't know. It's odd. The 30 second clips I saw on youtube were enough to convince me not to pursue it any further though.

I like using the library for graphic novels, even though I end up buying them if I like them. It's a nice test run. Plus, with stuff like 'Fun Home' or 'Persepolis' where I just want to read it because of all the press it's getting, it's nice not to have to shell out $20. hehe.

yeah, he's pretty much Steve now when we talk about him (though Jack Davenport is not a very movie star name either). We only have one episode left of 'Coupling' and we keep putting it off like that last christmas cookie - you know you should eat it because it's going to get stale but once it's gone, that's it until someone decides to make more!!

Well, the library almost always has something available. It's just not intelligent stuff. I have a pile of superheroes, and two Courtney Crumrin books. No Vertigo. No Dark Horse. (I'm sure there are some Star Wars around) No Image, Top Cow, or indie stuff.

My local system has one Sandman (The Kindly Ones), plus Kingdom Come and Understanding Comics. The rest is lowbrow.

that's a bummer, they need to get with the times! Do they have an online inter-library loan system that you could search? We have one for the public that searches some other Maryland libraries (the ones that have agreed to share) which is where I found my Transmets and Y's originally.

Though the 'Preacher' ones I had to fill out the whole ILL form and send it in to HDQ for them to search the country. That was fun haha. Kept waiting to get a note back saying "WTF are you reading???"
