Just finished watching this, and I have to say I was dissappointed.  I really enjoyed 'Best in Show', 'A Mighty Wind' and pretty much all of Guest & Co's other works.  But this movie only had a few giggles.

I think the problem was too much script.  Instead of letting his team of improvisers go crazy with the subject, this movie seemed to have so much going on that they never got their moments.  The best parts were with the spoofs of the entertainment talk shows.

I'll admit, I did jump up during John Krasinksi's cameo because I didn't know he was in it.  And Ricky Gervais also carried his scenes very well.  But a lot of this was just painful to watch.

I wanted to laugh, I really did.  But this one just didn't do anything for me.

did I mention that I'd seen this? See, my opinion is that the Guest mockumentary thing was beyond tired way before this. I felt the same way as you, but about all his stuff- I wanted to like it, but I finally had to admit that I didn't laugh very much at Mighty Wind, or Guffman (I know, I know, I seem to be in the minority there), and even though I chuckled at Best in Show, I didn't laugh NEARLY as much as I should have at a spoof on dog shows. (Spinal Tap is, of course, genius). I think one problem is that things like reality TV, Stewart and Colbert, and real documentaries like "Spellbound" are so whacked or have such over-the-top people that they are pretty much unparody-able. ANYWAY, this is all to say that I had decided not to see FYC, but then a friend of mine twisted my arm into it. And I was so relieved that it wasn't in the mockumentary format that I ended up liking it more than I thought I would. Still not great, though.
