Showtime has put up the first two episodes of 'The Tudors' online. Edited. Sort of. I just started the first one to see what it looked like. I had no idea that Sam Neill was in the show! Or Callum Blue from 'Dead Like Me'. Still don't know if I want to watch it. I like both of those actors, but it seems like a lot of the show will be Henry sexin' up the ladies. Which I can pass on watching.

In other TV watching news - we watched Battlestar Galactica last night. We're up to episode 8: Flesh and Bone. I really liked this episode and I think it's because Starbuck and President Laura are currently my two favorite characters. They have the most depth and the most story to tell. Lots of suspense in this one too, though I knew the Cylon hadn't hidden a bomb on a ship. But the interrogation scenes were revealing for both Kara and the Cylon. Nice to get a little more about the Cylons too, and their world view. Creepy, but interesting.

I just went ahead and put season 2 on my netflix list. What is up with this 2.0 and 2.5 stuff? One of you BSG-ers want to explain that to me?

SCIFI aired the first half of Season 2, then had a long hiatus, during which they released the first half of the season on DVD (2.0). The second half of the season aired later, and was released as 2.5.

I have both on DVD and would be happy to lend to you if you want to use your Netflix for other stuff; just shoot me an email at work and I can send it in delivery . . . :-)

hm. Was the haitus because they were trying to decide if they wanted to keep the show or just due to scheduling on sci-fi for that year?

off to watch episode 9!

Well, good question! I didn't know either, but here's what answers.com says:

"Following the success of the 13-episode season one, the Sci Fi Channel commissioned a full 20-episode second season. The season premiered in the U.S. on Sci Fi Channel on July 15, 2005, with the UK, Ireland and Canadian premiere in January 2006. In the Fall of 2005, airing of the second season halted as it was part of Sci-Fi Channel's standard airing schedule normally used for its Stargate series, which was to split a 20-episode season into two parts (a "winter season" and a "summer season", to avoid heavy competition with major networks that follow a spring / fall schedule). Universal Home Video took this break as an opportunity to package the episodes aired thus far into a DVD set, calling it Season 2.0. The final episode of the first half, "Pegasus," was originally 15 minutes too long for broadcast, but according to creator Ronald Moore, the production team decided to cut the episode to time rather than pad it out to fill 90 minutes, as this was deemed impractical. The longer version of "Pegasus" appears on the Battlestar Galactica Season 2.5 DVD set, which was released in the U.S. on September 19, 2006."

Interesting! :-)

so, does that mean I should watch the version of 'Pegasus' on the season 2.5 set instead of the 2.0 one?

That's funny that Sci-Fi wouldn't just let them run over! The show was popular enough, you'd think pre-empting whatever was on after the mid-season finale would be worth it!

well, you can watch the first two episodes online and get a taste of the show...then just wait a few months and I'm sure the DVD will be out. ;)
