On Vox: Movie Thoughts: Children of Men
Mar. 30th, 2007 12:13 am*phew* that was an intense 2 hours. I knew it would be, everyone had said it was a good movie but not a feel-good movie. But it was very well done. I loved the whole look of it. Very raw and gritty. And Clive Owen has really started to grow on my as an actor. I think the first few times I saw him, he played sort of weird characters (Sin City, Closer) so I didn't care for him, but he did a very good job in this. Everyone did.
A bleak vision of the future, but it all felt very real and plausible.
I'm already on the wait list for the book, I'm very interested to see what the differences and similarities are.

Date: 2007-04-01 05:49 pm (UTC)I think that's what makes it so plausible. Here we are, down to the last of earth's population, and we're still blowing each other up and abusing everyone. Though you could say Clive Owen started that way - when he said lets turn Key over to the government. It was treated as totally naive - he was thinking "OMG last baby!!!" and everyone knew it would never be that simple.
Actually...it kind of reminds me of Battlestar - the last of the race and we still bicker and argue over who's in charge etc..
mmmm, good movie. I don't know if i could watch it again, it was so intense and, well not really sad but gloomy?
