[livejournal.com profile] heiland_coo and I went to see 'Waitress' this afternoon. It was definitely a chick-flick but it had its head in the right place. It was sweet, funny, and down to earth. It didn't break any new ground as far as film making goes, but it was a nice way to spend an hour and a half. Fantastic cast all around, and of course I loved the Nathan Fillion action. :)

It made me want to eat pie...lots and lots of pie. They should have pie at the concession stand when they run this movie. Actually, this movie bets to be turned into a party, where you make some of her pies and then eat them when she mentions them. Mmmmm yes.

I don't think I care about PotC3. I had actually forgotten about it until people started to post blurbs this week. I was just so disappointed with 'dead man's chest' that I really had no desire to find out what happened next. *shrug* I think that's how I feel about 'Spiderman 3' as well. I sorta want to see it, but I'm not really excited about it. Harry Potter is probably the next big sequel I'm interested in seeing. We'll probably see 'live free or die hard' because that's just so ridiculous (plus the Mac guy is cute). And the next Resident Evil movie because we always see Resident Evil movies in the theater. Superbad could also be fun, I mean it has George Michael in it! And the trailer made me giggle.

I luuuv the Mac guy! Nice casting on the part of Apple. That role could easily become "annoying smart ass" in the hands of the wrong actor.

The PC guy is cool too, from what I understand. He's a singer/songwriter type, and wrote a song about zombies. If I weren't feeling totally lazy due to its being eighty-freakin-six degrees in my apartment right now, I'd find more useful info, like his name. But maybe you know?

I'm going to see "Once" this evening. The boston globe calls it "the first rock musical which actually makes sense." We'll see..

PC Guy was just on daily show, he's John Hodgeman (spelling might be wrong). He's amusing too. I was unaware of his zombie song.

I had not heard of 'Once', but it has a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes (out of 58 reviews). Let me know if it's any good. I'm curious about 'Across the Universe' too, though the trailer doesn't so a whole lot for me (it's clear they are scared to let anyone know it's a musical, so they trailer is all talking scenes, and the last 10 seconds are bits of Beatles songs)

Ok, now I'm totally confused.. I swear I heard this interview on NPR with someone they said was "the PC guy". And he had just finished writing one song a day, or a week, or something like that, for a whole year. So, a musician. And one of the songs was about zombies. And then coincidentally a friend of mine mentioned the zombie song right after that, and I was like "that's the PC guy". And it's been stuck in my head as the truth ever since.

But it looks like the zombie song guy is Jonathan Coulton:

And the PC guy, John Hodgman is more of a writer/humorist:

So I'd think I was totally crazy, except the Wikipedia article mentions that Coulton frequently collaborates with Hodgman. So there IS a connection. I'm still left wondering what I heard on NPR that day, though..

Well, looking thru the clips that are linked on that youtube page, there's an Attack of the Show interview with Hodgman and then later Coulton is on, so perhaps they were doing the interview circuit together and you heard an interview taking place around that time...how's that? haha.

and now I must order Hodgman's book from the library so I can flip thru it!

you know, that actually makes sense. I always have NPR on while I'm getting ready in the morning, and it's very conceivable that I heard the start of the interview with Hodgman, or at least heard him mentioned, then turned on the blow dryer, then when I turned it off they were interviewing Coulton. I'll tell myself that's what happened..
