So, I remembered what I wanted to post about last night -- "microblogging"

It's apparently the new term for things like Twitter and the "Status Update" feature on Facebook. But what is it really all about? I mean, you have to have access to a computer 24/7 to make it work the way you want it to. Those of us with jobs that don't let us surf the 'net all day won't get as much out of it. So talk about an even smaller group.

It's amusing. But at the same time, my first instinct is to comment! But since it's a "microblog" it's too small to have a comment field. Or anything else for that matter.

And it's all fun and games now but what if it morphs into something like the cell phone - once a device for occasional communication, it's now a necessity. What if Twitter starts out like a joke, but soon employers are using it as a way to moniter your activity ("Sam is working on SRC stuff" "Sam is checking her email" "Sam is on lunch break") Oh god, it could be used for evil...it really could be.

Oh Internetz, you start out so innocent and quickly turn to the dark side. It's like RotS but with worse hair.
