I sat down to watch this movie tonight and it was exactly what I expected. And you know what? That was fine by me!

'Kinky Boots' is a feel good movie in the same vein as 'Brassed Off', 'Full Monty', and every other small British town with a quality business going under, good people about to lose their job, what crazy thing can we do to save ourselves movie ever made.

You know the basic story as soon as you pick up the box - Charlie Price (Joel "Uncle Owen in AotC" Edgerton) has been thrust into the job he had been avoiding his whole life - running his family's shoe factory. He returns from London after his dad's death, only to find that they have been making shoes but no one has been buying them. The company is about to go under until he bumps into "Lola" (Chiwetel "The Operative from Serenity" Ejifor) - a transvestite/drag queen with a passion for high heeled footwear. Charlie finds his niche market!

And as a bonus, it turns out it's all based on a true story!

If you're just looking for something nice to watch, that won't strain your brain and will leave you with a silly grin on your face, this is the perfect movie to pick up. And the soundtrack isn't so bad either. :)

Nice review- I had no idea what this movie was about. Funny how this type of story keeps repeating itself in British movies.. Did you ever see Calendar Girls? Same idea, I'm almost certain it is based on a true story, and Helen Mirren is wonderful, as always.

Yeah, I wonder why that theme is so prevalent in British movies nowadays? It's like it's very own genre!

I have not seen 'Calendar Girls', sounds like I would enjoy it though. And Helen Mirren? It's got to be fun to watch!
