OMFG - the Harry Potter program tonight at the Crofton Library was AMAZING! So much fun! [livejournal.com profile] destertale, [livejournal.com profile] mdcapsfan, and the rest of the staff there really know how to throw a shindig! I'm really really excited about our program on Monday. I have decided I want to go find some pink hair dye and go as Tonks! (now where do I get pink hair dye when it's not Halloween! Suggestions?)

Just got done chatting with [livejournal.com profile] verdatum and he said he would go to Comic Con with me. I really want to have some costumes. I'm thinking Starbuck, Vampire (because [livejournal.com profile] verdatum knows how to do the makeup) and Melaka Fray. I've never done costuming before and these all seem relatively easy.

Hot Topic. Though theirs is permanent...

The costume/stage makeup store here, Performance, has a semi-permanent dye. Y'all probably have a similar store that sells a similar dye.

Take pictures... :D

I searched hot topics site and it said "demi-permanent" and I had no idea what that meant. Is that something I could wash out? Though, really, I only work Monday and Tuesday and then I fly to Maine for the rest of the week, so I'd only be pink at work for a day. :\

Hm. You could ask in-store.

OR you could get a pink wig. Mine cost around $20, the wig cap was $5 I think. Then you could be Tonks whenever you wanted!!! :D

Demi-permanent is what I did with the purple earlier this year. Means it usually lasts a couple months if you touch it up and/or have bleached your hair somewhat first. Or around about 4-6 weeks if you don't touch it up at all and really wash it (though it fades before that, that's the time frame before it was completely gone.) It disappeared from my roots a lot sooner, and only really stuck to my hair where it had sun-bleached a bit more. Also depends on the colors though. That was with the dark purple on my blondish (non-color treated) hair. My hair is a darker blonde and the pink would probably not show up on mine as well without some bleaching first, and it would also probably fade quicker (I'm hypothesizing on that though) if you've had your hair color-treated recently, the color will likely stick with you longer and show up more since your hair is lighter. Hope that helps answer your question.

You could also just look for a wig like the one Heidi had. ^_^

Wikipedia says I can wash it out with mineral oil...or at least, that it will speed up the process.

I think I'll go to hot topic this week and see what I can see. I could look for a wig...but I sorta want to see the look on everyone's faces when I walk in with PINK hair LOL. Plus, I'm not on the floor at all Monday, and I work morning Tuesday so the public would only have to deal with the crazy pink haired librarian for 4 hours max. (and they could deal)

Head and Shoulders also works well for fading a color a bit quicker. Someone recommended that to me when I wanted to fade my red a bit, and it seemed to work.

I'm pretty sure they were referring to Comic Con 2007, which just finished. I don't think tickets have gone on sale for Comic Con 2008, which is what I'm talking about. :P But that you for checking up on me! (you want in on this adventure?)

At Mugglefest (yes, I still need to post pictures!) at Tonks' Beauty Salon, they were spray-coloring kids' hair with something that really stood out. Don't know what it was, but it can't have been all that permanent if so many parents were letting their kids do it!
