So, I figured I should post some coherent thoughts about Battlestar this week. We've only watched it the once so far, but here is what I remember so far as reactions:
- So, it appears that Chief, Tigh, and Tory are all self-destructing in their own special ways. Sam would appear to still be stable, but then, next to Starbuck, everyone seems stable.
- Tory and Gaius; what is going on there? I'm really not sure. ("I liked it better when you cried" LOL!) She did reveal to him the secret to creating a new religion with the perfection line. Still, their relationship is odd (and Gaius, being the total guy he is, doesn't seem too bothered by the odd sexual advances...but he is Gaius)
- The moment when Tigh was in the monitoring booth outside Six's cell was amusing. Especially when the one girl called her a "toaster". You could see Tigh mentally gearing up for a rant about "Fraaaaakin Cylons" and then stopping himself and thinking "Ow, racial slurs like "toaster" really do hurt!".
- Tigh and Six. Whoa. I can't believe Six is still pining over Gaius and Gaius has probably forgotten her. And Tigh envisioning her as Ellen was unsettling at first, then when he did it on purpose, it got very weird.
- "This isn't what you needed" *smooch* 0.o
- Okay, Roslin has gone from crazy to downright SCARY! When she said to Gaius that he needs to sit down before he falls down, so to speak, I was really taken aback. She's going to try to have him killed, I bet you anything. Especially after Lee got her bogus law changed.
- Speaking of Roslin though, that scene between her and Adama in the first few moments ("I like this") was heartbreaking, as was the read-aloud when he says he's to the part in the book he hasn't read before. She may be the mayor of crazytown (as
spitefairy put it) but he still loves her.
- I have to agree with
demonqueen666, how was going into a church service and messing it up while screaming at the priestess a good idea?
- Also, Gaius' Six was able to manipulate his body in a way we've never seen before. So...what is she? And will he ask that question again soon? And was it me or was she eyeing up Tory in that last scene?
- I'm worried about Lee. He's a sweet guy but very easily manipulated by Zarek and the like. I think he did the right thing this week getting the presidents order overturned, because that was just a crap order. But still, I'm scared of the kind of trouble he can get himself into.
- And Gaius is The Jesus. Which we all saw coming but watching it all unfold has been very interesting, especially when we see how religion effects the leaders of the government. And how new ideas can seem so threatening. Again, the writers have made this great choice to put ideas that we have already accepted in our real lives in the hands of a character that we don't exactly trust and whose motives are usually not very pure, making it just uncomfortable enough to make you squirm.
So, yes, just initial reactions...2 days late but still initial. We'll probably rewatch later this week and I will find new things to discuss. Still enjoying Season 4.
