orangerfulWizards of the Coast took over the Star Wars fan club a few years ago and almost destroyed it. They jacked up the membership price and broke it up into "magazine membership" and "true fan membership" (i.e. $20 or $30). They quit sending cool stuff out unless you paid the extra $10 and pretty much did nothing except create a website to buy stuff off of. Blah.
Well, they relinquished control of the Fan Club and Paizo publishing has taken over and I'm pleased to say they seem to be on the right track! I got a new membership package today, which included a membership card (with Yoda zapping and 2003 across the bottom!), a bunch of neat-o stickers, a patch (which I could sew on my jean jacket that i never wear), some goofy postcards from Courscant, Kamino, and Geonosis, and a little thing you can pop out and make stand on your desk.
It's the little things in life that give it that extra pizzaz.
