Silent Hill: Homecoming

I started Silent Hill:Homecoming today. I have played and conquered Silent Hill 2 and 4. I don't know why I play these games. They scare the crap out of me. Almost immediately I get tense. It's ridiculous because I know the Silent Hill m.o. - the games starts in Uber-Creepy mode (Hospital, no lights, bleeding walls, wobbling nurses) and goes just long enough to freak you out before it goes into the normal story and begins to set things up.



So, Adam has just returned from where ever he was stationed. He was in the military but he spent some time in a "hospital" (and if its the place the game started, it was an insane asylum, so he might be coo-coo for cocoa puffs). Even though the truck dropped him off in Shepard's Glen, the town seems eerily Silent Hill like. According to some newspaper I found lying around, Silent Hill is the next town over (oddly enough, the article was about a murderer being electrocuted! lovely!) He goes to his home and finds it very empty and snoops around. Suddenly his mother appears and she's all depressed, talking about how she misses Adam's little brother, Josh, and how their father is out in search of Josh right now. Adam says he'll find Josh.

Anyway, from what I've gathered, Adam had "imaginary friends" as a child, so the whole joining the army story might be total bunk. The newspaper article mentioned 8 murdered children, and Adam keeps gathering creepy-ass drawings done in crayon with dead bunnies and kids. Very freaky. Oh, and apparently Josh found his father's hunting room at some point in their childhood.

I'm pretty sure Josh is dead. Adam keeps making comments about how his mom saves the pictures of Josh as a kid. I'm also sure that Adam was put into the asylum quite some time ago because he also talks about how he's not in any of their family photos. Oh, and Adam bumped into some blonde chick as soon as he entered the town. I'm pretty sure she did it because, hey, it's Silent Hill - it's always some crazy blonde chick trying to destroy the world with a twisted religious cult.

The story in these games always sucks me in. I would stop playing if I didn't want to know what happened so badly!!! It's worth the tension to find out what is going on!



Side-note, the game is a lot easier to play with the volume turned down on the TV (subtitles turned on, obviously) and Avril Lavigne blaring through the speakers.

I actually skipped the spoiler stuff. But this game is on my Christmas list. So I will probably be playing it after Christmas! But if not I am going to get it myself. :D

Yeah, I might end up buying it just because it will take me forever to beat at my current rate of play (20 minutes, freak out and wander the apartment, 20 minutes, freak out and wander the apartment) hehe.

So far, it feels like classic Silent Hill so I hope Santa brings it for you ;)
