omg, sorry I haven't posted the second update. I meant to get these all over at once and then work was just overwhelming with all the stuff I needed to do after being out for pretty much 2 weeks. Then I got distracted by Beatles Rock Band....

BUT ANYWAY!

DRAGON*CON DAY 2!!!!!

Set the alarm on Saturday so we could get up and watch the parade! The Dragon*Con parade is a chance for costumers to show off their favorite fandom and march through the streets of Atlanta. Everything from Trekkers to Losties, to Stargate Marines to Aliens and Predators, and all the Steampunk you can eat. Crazy stuff. [livejournal.com profile] jellibean represented in her deckhand outfit. The modded cars were really cool too - there was a pirate ship, a Beyond-Thunderdome looking truck with a machine gun in the back, and a Klingon bird of prey.

After the parade ended, we quickly headed down to the hotels to get in line for the Battlestar Galactica panel. [livejournal.com profile] jellibean switched places with [livejournal.com profile] faeriesfolly (because Morgan has not seen BSG! Can you believe this? tsk tsk) so she could avoid major spoilers. The panel included Michael "Tigh" Hogan, Mary "Roslin" McDonnell, Michael "Sam" Trucco, Allessandro "Gaeta" Juliani, Kate "Ellen" Vernon, and Luciana "Kat" Carro. Some of the questions were of the painful fanboy *headdesk* type ("Would you vote for Laura Roslin if she ran for President of the United States?" "If all that stuff in season 3 had never happened, how do you think the show would have ended?") but the cast did a good job of handling them all. My favorite question was the "what was your favorite line you got to say" - Hogan went with "It's in the FRAKKIN' SHIP!" and McDonnell bellowed "I'm coming for ALL OF YOU!" and Carro went with the "Starbuck, my cup runneth dry"...

Then someone got the mic and asked "What happened to that really hot guy that played the Chief?" and everyone turned around and saw it was Aaron Douglas! The cast played along, of course, with lots of "hm...no don't know who you're talking about" but Douglas hopped up on stage and took a few questions even though he wasn't officially there.

We wandered a bit more then headed down to the Froggy photo area and got in line for our Felicia Day photos at 2pm. The only line that was longer was for Tom "Malfoy" Felton. They ushered us into a tiny little room and squeezed as many people in as they could. You could see the BSG actors in the room next door doing the last bit of their photo shoot. Felicia was running a bit late but once she got there, the thing was like an assembly line. It all happened so fast, I barely remember it. It was like "you're next, okay photo, okay done go bye" and then it was over. And so very whoa.

Morgan was dressed as Dr. Saunders from Dollhouse, in a lab coat with scars on her face. Felicia recognized the outfit right away. I went back to the hotel and switch into my Doll outfit (yoga pants/tank top) and we wandered a bit more. Heck, I'm not sure I remember what else we did Saturday afternoon...hm...OH! This is when I went back to the walk of Fame with the intention of getting Michael Trucco's autograph. I mean, he played SAM! I had to get an autograph.

Let me tell you, he is awesome. Very nice and his handler person was chatty and kept the conversation going. When he went to sign my picture, he asked what my name was and I was like "oh, I'm Sam!" and he was like "oh HAHA!" and I told him that I knew I had to get his autograph because of the Sam/Sam connection. I asked if I could get a photo with him and he said sure, which was awesome because a lot of the walk-of-fame people either did NO photos or charged extra. But he was happy to hop up and pose and was very gracious. I told him I hoped we saw him on the big screen soon because he is awesome haha.

Yes, I think this was also the point when Morgan and I shook John Schnieder's hand. He's still hot. I mean, how old his he? He was in Dukes of Hazzard and Smallville, yet he's still incredibly hot. I told him that if anyone ever asks him about cloning, he should say yes. LOL!

What the heck else did we do? Oh, we stood in line for Charlaine Harris' autograph. [livejournal.com profile] faeriesfolly wanted to get her first Sookie Stackhouse book signed. We got in line and it was already huge and the volunteer tried to tell us there was no way we would get an autograph because Mrs. Harris had to leave at 6:40 and it was already 5:30 or some such nonsense. But we were in line and we were NOT going to give up. So we stood...stood some more...inched forward a bit...kept inching...someone in line said they recognized Morgan then said "Oh wait, did you get a picture done earlier today?" and she said yes - "Oh, then I think you're photo is ready! I recognize your outfit from the photo!". So I left Morgan in line and meandered down to the Froggy table to snag our photos. I wandered into the dealer's room and found the costume company that [livejournal.com profile] faeriesfolly and [livejournal.com profile] dwrd both recommended for BSG undershirts and ended up buying one of those. By the time I got back upstairs - guess what - she had Charlaine Harris' autograph. NEVER GIVE UP NEVER SURRENDER!

We went back to the hotel to switch into our comfy clothes and then met up with [livejournal.com profile] jellibean & Co. so we could head over to the Battlestar Galactica Colonial Fleet party. Saturday night is party night at DragonCon so every major fandom had something going on. But Jessica hinted that BSG cast tends to show up at the party, so I knew I had to go to that one.

It started pretty quiet. Took FOREVER to get into the room because they had to check IDs because of the bar. I got a wristband even though once I was inside I realized the beer was nasty beer and the liquor was too expensive. Ah well. Watched a carebear dance for awhile while Morgan counted the Sixes (I think she said there were at least 13). Jessica showed off her cute Knuckledragger Dress. We checked out some of the items up for auction and she fell in love with the deckhand helmet that someone had made. Then she realized she had lost her DragonCon badge and started searching all over for it. When we all turned up empty handed, she went to the front to see if anyone had turned it in, and right when she got up there, the cast of BSG came on stage!!!!

Lots of "SO SAY WE ALL"s and each member came forward and said how much they loved the show and the fans. Michael Trucco said the costumes were crazy good and made him feel like he was back on set. Michael Hogan jumped into the crowd clutching two cans of Heineken and started to pose for pictures with everyone. I managed to squeeze forward and get a picture. Michael Trucco also braved the crowd, though I think he was overwhelmed a bit quicker. After things settled down, the live auction happened. I behaved myself, though I was very tempted to bid on several items. Jessica tried to get the deckhand helmet, Joe even got major boyfriend points by throwing out a couple bids, but they were outbid. By then it was getting near 1am or maybe later.

We started to inch our way to the back of the room, getting ready to sneak out before we passed out. Two guys at the back of the room saw my "White & Nerdy" t-shirt (from the Weird Al concert) and began talking to me. I babbled at them for awhile - they said they were at the Shindig in the next hotel over but it wasn't very exciting so they came over here. I told them about the actors stopping by. We talked about things at the Con. They were both probably in their 40s is my guess. Anyway, I noticed Joe and Morgan standing in my peripherals looking very "um, wtf, should we save Sam or is she actually enjoying talking with these guys?" so I did a "Are you guys ready to go?" look and they were like "yes!" so I said goodbye and the one dude leaned forward and was like "You're very pretty, thanks for talking to us old guys". LOL! Yes, I go to Dragon*Con and I get hit on by the older guys. the WAY older guys. Nah, it was sweet, it wasn't like he was all "hey baby, ditch those squares" or anything. It just cracks me up.

Yes, so we stumbled back to our rooms, stumbling from exhaustion, not drink. And passed out once again...zzzzzzzzzz

40 is OLD? Ahem, this 40-yr old begs to differ! LOL j/k

You're right about John Schneider; when he was on Smallville I was like "Dang, he still looks aweseome!" Must be something in the water.

The BSG party sounds like it was great!

Catherine :-)
