Do you like Sam Rockwell?  I mean REALLY like Sam Rockwell?  Because if you don't, you probably won't like 'Moon' because Sam is it (well, Sam and Kevin Spacey as Gerty the Computer).

'Moon' is a story set in the future.  To solve our energy crisis, we figured out a way to harvest power from the Moon.  But someone has to be up there to monitor the equipment.  Sam has signed a 3 year contract with the company.  He has been living on the moon, his only companion a computer called "Gerty".  He has 2 weeks left before he can return home.  But something is not quite right....

And I'll stop there.  If all of the reviews of 'Moon' seem vague to you, it's for a reason.  No one wants to say too much and spoil any part of this movie.

I thought Sam Rockwell did a great job considering he was all on his own.  He's come a long way from 'Guy' (Galaxy Quest).

I'm not so sure about the re-watchability of this movie though.  I don't think I would view it a second time, but the first time through was interesting and it drew you in.  But after it was over, it was over and that was that.

I enjoyed it on rewatching, but it didn't seem to draw me in quite as much emotionally. Still fun to watch Sam act the hell out of it, though.

Oddly, you're the second person on my friends list to mention this movie recently. I'm glad it's getting the attention it deserves.

I'd had it on my Netflix list forever, it was mentioned in a "Very Short List" email but I don't think it ever came to a movie theater new me. I like how it didn't turn into an "Event Horizon" horror movie, it kept the creepyness but in a very low-key way.

Also, who the frak was sitting in the chair when he burned his hand?

I agree with what you said about re-watchability, tbh it took me a while to get hooked into Moon on the first viewing.. It was really interesting as a psychological thriller/sci-fi film, but it takes a while to gather momentum (I guess that was necessary for the final reveal to have such an impact though..)

***spoilery comment for anyone reading down here!!***

I think, since we knew that he had survive the first time through, it wasn't quite the OMG that I expected. At first I thought he had never made it, that the original had died and been cloned and never completed his 3 years and that was the loophole the company was exploiting. But it was just a sort of a vague, ethical dilemma since we didn't know how the cloning deal had gone down...so the ending lacked something...it was just kind of over.
