orangerful: Amy and AD revealed their super secret birthday surprise - a trip to Las Vegas to see Cirque de Soleil's salute to The Beatles "LOVE"
But, of course, the birthday celebration did not end there! My actual birthday was this past Thursday, March 4th (explains the radio silence, eh?). AD surprised me with a pile of presents and I convinced him to make a Dr Pepper cake, something I only found out existed the week before because of a link posted on the Dr Pepper Facebook page.
The cake was quite the experience, hard to really describe. It had the consistency of carrot cake, but since there were marshmallows and chocolate involved, it made me think of Rocky Road ice cream, but then there were walnuts and frosting on top like some kind of crazed brownie. It was good stuff, very different. I love trying new things!
Then for the prezzies - AD picked up the Xbox Live Messenger kit for me which I've wanted for awhile. It's ridiculous because it's a chatpad that plugs into your Xbox controller. But it makes things so much easier if I want to just send someone a quick note of hello and not go through the bother of getting my headset on etc..
I also go a little mini MO from Wall-E who actually CLEANS! He's got little brushes on the bottom and when you roll him across a surface, he'll pick up bits of paper and such. Again, ridiculous but awesome. He's on my desk at work since he's not quite to scale with Eve and Wall-E on my desk.
I have a Prince Naveen and Tiana (in frog form) now. They are adorable little stuffed toys, perfect size (Apollo agrees). Makes me want to see that movie again. Trying to decide if I want to pre-order from Amazon or just go pick it up the day it comes out next week.
Speaking of things coming out on blu-ray that i need to pre-order that tie into my birthday - AD also got me a Jesse (from Toy Story 2) doll!!!!! You pull her string and she says things like "YEEEEEE-HAAAAAAAAAH!" and "SWEET MOTHER OF ABRAHAM LINCOLN!" which cracks me up every time.
And to top off this very animated birthday celebration, AD snagged me a copy of "Coraline" on blu-ray. It came with a set of 3-D glasses so I can't wait to watch it in 3D. I mean, I already heart it so much in 2D.
In my inbox was an email from AD's parents who got me a surprise gift - as if Beatles wasn't enough, Amy and I will also be enjoying the talents of some *ahem* men from Australia. Yes, they got us tickets to see The Thunder from Down Under. Yeah, we will be giggling like little girls. It's gonna be ridiculous but I would never pay to see something like that...but I'm not gonna say no to a birthday present! LOL!
On Sunday my parents took us to Fogo de Chao which is an Brazilian Steakhouse of AWESOME! You pretty much have a stop/go sign on your table and after you've snacked on salad for a little bit, you flip it to green for "go" and these gauchos with meat on sticks start to magically appear and slice off bits for you. We ate WAY too fast but it was so good. I want to go back, I feel like we made a few rookie mistakes (too much salad, let them fill up our plates with meat instead of pacing ourselves) so next time I'll know what to expect. We were just in awe and got overwhelmed. Then we had dessert and then the manger brought me MORE cake because my dad told him it was my birthday! So, yeah, I think I'm still recovering from that, LOL!
So, 29 is off to a good start. My Entertainment Earth order happened to ship last week too so I should have the new Starbuck and Leoben pack tomorrow, and my $25 Gamestop gift card arrived yesterday so I'm all set for the new DragonAge expansion next week. AND I beat Mass Effect 2 (I'll fangirl about that in a later post, that game is so frakkin awesome).

Date: 2010-03-12 09:40 pm (UTC)OMG I'm trying to play through on Hard and I'm getting my ass handed to me so much. And I just went to the Mage Tower - trying to see if I can get them to help me with the brat in Redcliffe since last time I just sacrificed his obnoxious mother BWAHAHA!

Date: 2010-03-12 09:49 pm (UTC)Fogo was so much fun. I want to go back now that i know what to expect. I was sort of in awe and had pretty much filled up in 20 minutes, which is not how it should be done. Gotta savor all those tasty meats (I also realized I don't really like Filet Mignon - just never does it for me. And I didn't like the Fogo version, I decided that means I don't like it period)

Date: 2010-03-13 02:10 am (UTC)I have only asked them to help once (and that time I made Jowan go into the fade. Which is a BAD IDEA, because he has no way to heal himself and no access to any of your potions or anything.) Ever since then I was like SHE DIES. lol.
I am trying to get all the badges for all the possible paths. I still have to go kill all the dalish. lol. And destroy the sacred ashes. And some other things I can't think of along with bringing Loghain into the Grey Wardens.

Date: 2010-03-14 12:10 am (UTC)But I needed the Mages to do the Redcliffe things so I went back and reloaded the game. I sort of want to kill the Mages next time but I NEED Wynne to be my healer otherwise I'm gonna get my butt kicked!!!

Date: 2010-03-14 12:19 am (UTC)I haven't quite figured out how to just kill all the effing mages though. Which is what I have to do still as well. I am wondering if it occurs during your first convo with Wynne. :/ I still also have to play through as a guy which is where I think I might recruit Loghain. But I also want to have both Morrigan and Leilana sooooooo yeah. (I also very well may hit on Zevran, because YES.) Damn I want too many playthroughs.

Date: 2010-03-15 02:15 am (UTC)WOMEN! I swear.
Also, I am totally sold on giving you a certain answer regarding said gmail message and my Mother (today as opposed to yesterday) seems not as open to the idea.
I really think that the pros outweigh the cons (especially since I apparently have a check coming from US Bank for $130+ from like 3 years ago, and I budgeted like $200 for food and gas so that really would be like $70 out of pocket and how can you pass that up in all good conscience?)
Dad is coming home tomorrow (instead of today like he was supposed to), and I'll run it by him to see what his take is on it if it is okay to take another day. :P

Date: 2010-03-15 09:46 pm (UTC)Free plane ticket, Free pass, Free room (we're crashing with my friend Becky, she's very nice) and Boston has the T which is relatively inexpensive. And Becky will know the good places to get food and stuff. :)
Just keep me posted, but I do understand if you can't make it. I know it's pretty crazy. :)
